$200 5" sebae anemone?

Leaving the lights off for 4 hours is suggested for fish. This is so that they have time to examine their environment and settle in with minimal harrasment by any other inhabitants.

Invertabrates, especially delicate ones, should have a long slow acclimation to the tank. The primary purpose of this is they are far more sensitive to water chemistry changes than fish. Photoreactive/sensitive invertabrates should then further allowed to adjust fully to water chemistry before a change in lighting is added to the equation setting off more stress cues within the organism.

If it were my prized anemone that I paid a significant sum for I would want to let it adjust as slowly as possible. MANY don't do this and have no problems. This is just a suggestion to limit additional stress factors when they need not be there.

Pictures look beautiful, btw! I'm jealous I did not get it.

Thank you so much fittiger! This is great information in answer to my earlier question. So do you think the anemone would start moving in search of light - or do you think it would stay put for that first day - just figuring out the new water chemistry?

I'm going to leave just the 1 light on for today (1 of my 3). Tomorrow I'll allow it to have all 3.

Also - Thank you! I think it's beautiful too. I hope it continues to do ok!!

How long one can reasonably acclimate an anemone outside of the tank...does it not take them days, weeks, to fully osmosize the tank water and equalize parameters inside their flesh and out?

I understand the importance of acclimation, and why we do it, and you can bet your bottom that I'll be doing it by the book when I get my anemone in a few months, but sometimes I just wonder at how effective it REALLY is.

Hi Mom! :) Welcome to Reef Central!

I don't have any new pictures to post right now.

However - I did turn on the Koriela Nano covered in hose - the anemone still didn't move - it just waved it's tentacles more. I did get a glance at it's underside though and it looks like it's really dug deep down into the sand! :)

Thanks Christina! I hope so! I love it. The Liveaquaria picture is more purple than pink though - do you know what kind of lighting that would be under? I wonder if mine will get that purple or if due to my lights it's going to look more pink?

With each picture I dislike you more. ;) ;)

That looks really really great.

Reminds me of that two flavored gum from back in the day, bubblicious.

Good, I am glad you know what I am talking about, I can see that gum in my head.

And now, the next time F&S has one of those I am going to have to jump on it, think you have given me an idea of what to do with my 29. :)

Here's some interesting info on this anemone. I had asked Liveaquraria yesterday if they could tell me where it was collected and when.

This anemone was collected in Jakarta Indonesia and came to Liveaquaria on May 28th. Then they posted it for sale on June 10th.

Interesting because when I asked when they got it - the lady on the phone then said that since it was just posted they must have had it 3 weeks because she said the quarantine all Divers Den items for 3 weeks before posting. I guess they didn't on this one - only 2 weeks!

Oh - and another note - it does have the exact same column and veracue as my other two anemones. Plain white with white veracue.
