$200 5" sebae anemone?

Yep - that's just the female. The male stays close but the female won't let him in yet.

Thanks Christina for that info - I didn't even think of looking on their site!?

Wow, that is looking so good. Shocked at how big it is and how quickly it has settled in -- good job.

Though I think it would look a lot better in my 29. ;)

Seriously - I'm shocked at how big it is and how quickly it settled in too! I'm sure somethings going to go wrong soon - this is just too much good luck! It's definitely a lot bigger than 5 inches! :)

I'm sure it would look great in your 29 - but if it goes anywhere soon it'll be my 30!

:)

Fine, it would look better in my 75. ;)

But, I know what you are talking about, when things settle in too soon and look really good you get a bit worried. That happened with my blue Haddoni, and it is still with me a year later.

You know enough about what you are doing, so I am sure that it will make it -- and if anything does start to go wrong that you will be able to take care of it.

Morning Shots!

Morning Shots!

Well - I got up this morning and it sure looks great so far. It's in the exact same place looking the same - mouth still closed tight - and had both of my clowns snuggling in.

I took two pictures - but they're not great as I obviuosly had to use the flash with the lights out. I think now that I have this anemone I'm going to order the brighter Nanotuners moonlight upgrade to do - only because it's so pretty under the blue lights at night! :)

You can tell in the 2nd one that I clearly woke them up with the first flash!

Haha, just took some but have to take my little brother to the doctor (he had eye surgery yesterday) and I will post some right after that, but my nem is looking very good in my tank ;)

Boo for making us wait!

(and sorry about your brothers eye! I'm sure your mom told you to be careful or you'd poke his eye out...)

That is just plain mean. ;) ;)

Love your new pictures, and I bet that it would look great under some blue moon lights.

it's looking good kim:-)

i like it all the same under your lights, looks less synthetic.

i do question the lack of color contrast of the upper column;
could Dr. Daphne G. Fautin and. Dr. Gerald R. Allen's account be a general description? www.nhm.ku.edu/inverts/ebooks/ch1.html#malu
could it have lost the zooxanthellae which they state would be present in H. malu (as you observe of your avatar)?
it would be something if it surprised us by not being H. malu.

you're doing an fantastic job documenting it. many thank's for your invaluable contribution to this forum:-)

Hi Marc! I was waiting for you to pop in again!

A few questions about your post...
"i do question the lack of color contrast of the upper column; "
Could you tell me what part you mean by the upper column and what you mean by lack of color contrast? Sorry! I'm a big slow it's friday!

Are you refering to this statement? "lower part same colour as oral disc, but upper portion may have several white rings or green end"
or this one "Column very thin in expansion; upper part violet-brown (due to zooxanthellae) with longitudinal rows of adhesive verrucae."

By that second statement - I believe that they are trying to say that the column or underside of the oral disc would have a violet-brown part to it. Is that what you mean? If so - NONE of my 3 have this. All 3 of my undersides are all plain white with white rows of veracru.

Please let me know if this isn't what you mean...

I'm really interested in helping to define these anemone's as well.

Kim

All 3 of my undersides are all plain white with white rows of veracru.

Mine is the same way...........I just metioned to Shawn on his thread that I believe the longitudinal rows of verraucae is a good way to ID this species.

yes kim, i was referring to the second statement, based on Fautain and Allens description (must have misread your previous post regarding the column). i think p. henderson "phender" pointed out lack of or misinformation in the above book, could be they gave a generalized description. i do however see what they described in their photo of H. malu (click on it to enlarge).
big e can you post photo's?
