200 gallon deep dimension build

Moved into our new house last week and started the new build this week. Looking forward to the new tanks depth. Last tank was a 7x2x2. Hoping for a 200 gallon SPS paradise, but expecting several hiccups along the way.

Equipment:
Tank - 200 gallon deep dimension from Aquarium Masters (2 x 1.5 inch drains and 2 x 1 inch returns)
Custom stand and canopy. Canopy fit to hold the 4 radions on top.
Pump - Ecotech L1
Powerheads - 2 x MP40 and 2 x MP60
Lights - 2 x Gen 2 Radion and 2 x Gen 3 Radion Pros
Skimmer - Regal 200int
Rock - 200# dry florida rock from reefrocks
Sand - 30# tropic eden mini flakes and 60# tropic eden reef flakes

Got the tank into the house and only scuffed up 3 walls! navigating this oversized stand on the landing of a split level was not fun.

The inside of the stand didn't have any support braces along the perimeter, so I improvised. I did some searching and found other 200 gallon deep dimensions with the same stand design, so hoping mine is now just reinforced.

Received my rock earlier this week and gave it a quick rinse down. It came in pretty clean and I received a few pieces that were cut flat on one edge to help keep my rock scape stable on the bottom of the glass.

Finished painting the the back of the tank and got the rock into the tank today. I had originally planned for 120 lbs of sand, but I think 90 was enough. I laid the mini flakes down first. Hoping the vortechs don't move it around too much.

And started filling. Got about ~80 gallons into the tank. Added a bottle of Fritz zyme 9 and a couple dead shrimp to get this cycle started.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions and questions welcome!

Looks amazing! Very similar to how I have mine scape! I have the same tank, same rock, and same sand. Been setup for 3 months now and I love it! Very cool dimensions on these tanks! How do you have yours plumbed? I plumbed mine to a basement sump using herbie method. On the left side I have syphon and return, the right side I have syphon and trickle. It's dead silent and hardly ever needs adjustment! Looking forward to watching your progress!

I am waiting on my sump to get to get done. Until then, I have plumbed my ball valves in so that I fill to the top for the cycle and shut off the overflows. Using cepex ball valves. Sump is going to be a custom 36"x24"x16" and going under the stand. The tank is on the lower level on the house, so unfortunately, no remote sump.

Thanks for the compliments! I had my wife was supervise the entire scape. Hoping she will have some buy in now.

Looks good. That is the size of tank I wanted. Great dimensions I can't wait to sew you do it up with some nice sps!

Looking good

The canopy looks heavy and awkward to handle

It does take two people to get on the tank, but I was able to carry it out to the garage by myself to paint the inside. I think it looks worse than it is. My main fear with a canopy was the maintenance of the tank. Fortunately, both doors have pop off hinges and the center piece between the doors is removable. We'll see how it works out in a few weeks when it's time for a wc.

Threw in another 40 gallons, another 16oz of fritz zyme and placed an mp40 and mp60 now that there is enough water. Tested tank at ammonia 0.2, nitrite 0, nitrate 2. I will probably leave the 2 shrimp in the tank for a few days and then see what happens after they get pulled out,

Made my DIY tank covers tonight. Learned my lesson from the last set up. Probably lost 5 or 6 fish due to jumping before I made my DIY screen lids for that system. I decided to go with 1/8" screen. The only issue I think I will encounter will be setting up my autofeeder, but I may get around that by cutting out a slightly bigger hole where it dispenses food.

Also got my returns plumped above my bulk heads and my drain pipes are in, just need to finish the top portions of what will be dual dursos.

Going to finish filling the tank tonight to just below the overflow grating. Since I'm waiting for my sump, I don't want water becoming stagnant at the ball valves.

As far as my cycle is going, this Fritz zyme has me confused. Using all red sea tests, Ammonia is reading 0.0 now, nitrite is still 0, and nitrate is still 2. There are 2 frozen (now unfrozen) shrimp in the tank that have been in there for 48 hrs. They should be releasing detectable amounts of ammonia by now right? Or is the fritz zyme taking care of all of it?

One of the things on debating is how to place my lights. Initially I was thinking the newer gen 3 pros in the front, but based on my scape, I think the greatest number of corals that would benefit from the gen 3 pros over the gen 2's will be placed towards the back of the tank. Thoughts?

Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5. Hoping to take water to a LFS tomorrow to confirm my test kit and pull these shrimp out before they fully decompose in the tank. Water is finally starting to clear up.

Tests confirmed. Copepods deployed. Need to find some amphipods. Yes I'm moving fast on this guy, but its only because this tank has a take down date of 3 years from now, possibly four depending on my fellowship. Plus we have enough tanks in the group that stay dry
...it will be nice to see one get wet. Now let the derailing begin.
