200 gallon deep dimension build

Well, as expected, I had a few slight hiccups.

1. See other thread on lighting. Essentially, I was unable to get ecosmartlive to program my lights. ended up getting a WXM module for my apex and getting them programmed that way. Much happier now that I can change things from fusion.

2. The DIY screens I made did not take into account the canopy. When the canopy got placed, the lids were wedged between the plastic trim and the 2x4's. I ended up having to make the screens smaller, but because of the way the tank is manufactured, they will still be supported and there are no gaps for the fish to jump.

3. Some water went into my right overflow (due to vortechs causing waves) and I have a slow leak at either the bulkhead or ball valve. I've been turning things slowly trying to get it to stop. Got a bucket under it now and hoping to find it dry in the morning. Left side hasn't been tested yet, but probably will do that tomorrow before I get more surprises.

I did add a halloween hermit, turbo snail and 3 regular hermits today. everyone seems to be doing well.

Pics to come later this week.

While I wait for my sump to arrive and get plumbed, let's talk about stock list. ::enter tang police::

Definite:
- Indian gold ring bristletooth Tang – Ctenochaetus Truncatus
- Blue tang (because my wife said so)
- Achilles tang (what could go wrong)
- Magnificent foxface (because i hate bubble alge)
- Pair of clownfish (standard occelaris)
- fairy/flasher wrasses (not sure what kind or how many?)
- Filefish (because I hate aiptasia)
- Group of Lyretail Anthias

Possible:
- Flame Angel
- Pair of Mandarin gobies vs Pair of Dragonface pipefish?
- Orange shoulder vs Blonde Naso
- Cleaner wrasse

I'd say the naso over the orange shoulder and mandarins over the pipe fish. The pipe fish are awsome but I don't know if they would like the flow of an sps tank.

The mandarins you should wait on for a year or so while you get a podulation built up in your sump.

You're a pro though so I'm not telling you anything you don't already know!

Definitely gonna wait for the pod population to grow before trying these guys.

I wouldn't say I'm a pro. Always something to learn in this hobby. Thanks for posting it. Hopefully if someone new to the hobby is following they will now know to wait. :)

I started my 120 out with 2 bottles of docs pods and put one in after the cycle and never had a problem if you have a fuge with some algae you should be good. At least that has been my experience.

Still waiting on my sump, but pulled the trigger on a pair of adult clowns and a rainbow bubble tip nem (dark green and red) and a frag of red people eaters from a guy that was breaking down his tank. They have been in the tank for 48 hrs and everyone is doing well.

Diatom bloom started this week, so I added another 10 hermit crabs, 5 large nassarius snails, and what I think is a fighting conch.

Ordered a couple upright 65 gallon water containers. Once those come in I'll be building a new RODI mixing station. My wife claimed one of my brute trashcans for the trash already and has her eyes on taking my other 2.

Got my sump delivered! Had a small scare when the gap to slide it in was about 38 inches and the sump is 40 inches long, but I was able to get it to go in at an angle with a few millimeters to spare. Time to get it plumbed.

Sump measures at 40"x24"x16".

Here are some pics from tonights work. I realized very quickly that I wasn't going to be able to make the turn with 1.5 inch pvc into the sump. A few options I thought of were to make a trap below and bring it back up, but I didn't like the idea of a trap. I also thought about using flex tubing, but it was still a tight angle and likely to kink. Plus bending 1.5 inch drain tubing is difficult.

What I decided on was removing the bulkhead on the sump and just dropping a pipe down.

I have finished the return lines, but I still need a few street elbows to finish the right side drain. I'll shoot a pic of the completed plumbing tomorrow night when its done.

Looking good! Probably better off without the bulkheads anyway, they would probably transfer any vibrations.

Thanks guys!

Finished plumbing tonight. I would like to dedicate this part of the build to boulevard brewing for keeping me well hydrated during these stressful times.
