2000 Gallon Reef Pool

Thank you Welles for sharing, I agree with blackthunda77 its good to see that low tech can work too.

I still think many people are shocked more about the fact that your friend doesn't feed this tank, and it's self sufficient in that way, that is amazing to me!

to lebreef : it is also a surprised for me that all these fish could live without feed, maybe the live rock is enough for them to find the food.

to Kiril Donov: One of coconut palms dead and only one left, the lession for this is although the temperature and humidity is good for coconut palm but the temperature of soil is too low in winter. The situation of the left one is not good(growth slowly and looks unhealthy) :-(

to steevareno2002 : The skimmer is a Bubble Magus 800 (I do not know if it is only sale in China.)

can you say something about temperature around the year...max-min....
does it snow in beijing in winter..?

you have done a spectacular job at all front, but most amazing is you can keep all those fishes without artificial feeding....that means the system is ecologically balanced....incredible...:eek2:

to auem: The temperature in Beijing is 5~98 degree (in Fahrenheit, about -15~37 in Celsius), and snow in winter.

Update more pics of fishs, corals and clam...

so how do you control temp. of the tank throughout the year...?..keeping whole system under AC..?
what's the highest temp. that the system goes to...?

many thanks for such beautiful pictures...:celeb1:

Thanks for sharing an amazing story! Beautiful tank. Sorry to hear about the Moorish Idols starving, that's sad.

Do you have any videos on (American) Youtube? Would love to download some of those. I'm unable to grab the ones of the Chinese site.

wow that tank is really nice, and you are using real sun light which is really cool, and different.

love all your clams and it looks like they are doing really really well.

WHAT A SURPRISE!

I have followed this tank from the beginning and I thought that the idea was good. then I saw the fish, corals and the mangrove area in may 2011, and the tanks looked great but still too young...and I thought, this tank will be better and better but now...with the last updates...I think is out of this world!!! WOW!!

I copied every picture because this tank was one my favorites, though was young. Now I can see its potential. if you use sunlight the nutrients must be extremely low, that´s why the hair algae grew. it´s difficult to fight with that algae with a big biolod.

what happened with the powder blue tang, the morish idol and the flame angel??

thanks for sharing!

Martin
