Mikey,thanks for the link.

tank looks great.i like how you stacked the rock on top of the fake stuff so you wouldn't need so much rock.

Great pics! The tank looks really sweet and you know you are a crazy reefer when you put the fish in BEFORE you have the equipment hooked up! :D
Those stand legs look so skinny under all that tank!

>>>Are you picking on me jnarowe . You have to understand I had 300lbs of live rock sitting in a friends sump for the past 2 months so that should help the cycle. Also there are only 12 small fish in a 1000g ( so far ) system.Very little fish bio load to start.

>>> they may look skinny but there are for sure overbuilt at 2x2x1/4 inch

asmodeus :

>>>thanks for the idea. I went to Lowes and all the pulleys are stainless and zinc for boating so they wont rust.

>>>Tnks so do I

>>>A guy I found local from craigslist. He cost $30 hr took him 8 hrs
By all means my door is always open for you.Give me a 1/2 notice before you come by.

daywn:

>>>Thanks you so much. I have another 200 lbs of coming to fill out the pillars just a little more

Just nitpicking but you might want to consider altering the height of a couple of those pillars. It doesn't look very random with them staggered evenly about the tank, all the same height.

naw, not picking on you! :D I had 250 lbs. from the guy I bought my tank from, also sitting in a Rubbermaid for months. Believe me, I know how it goes. I popped the rock in the display before I had even built my skimmer. I had 11 chromis in mine also...In fact my cycle took place before my skimmer was up and running. I borrowed a whole-house filter from my house system and ran that off my manifold as well as using filter socks and water changes.

Have you checked out the PLTA I just got? I posted it in my thread.

>>> No problem I like all good or bad remarks. Some I agree with some ....not.

You may be right about the pillars the front one is going to be larger and as I said 200 or so lbs Inc and I'm not done yet. Also remember as I put corals on them it should make a big difference. I'm going to try and go for show size items so I don't have to wait for the growth and they will fill in the spaces.

>>>AMAZING PLTA you know I have first request when it splits

I borrowed a whole-house filter from my house system and ran that off my manifold as well as using filter socks and water changes.

>>> I'm going to do a 30-40% water change weekly till everything smoothes out. When the guy delivers the water its the same amount for 100-300g so might as well.

I wonder if I do large weekly water changes, will that screw up my cycle and extend it?

I doubt it will screw up your cycle at all. You have to do it anyway or you will get a horrible HA outbreak. Last time I had a split my 24"+ GBTA split into three parts!

>>> wow 24" is a very nice size. I'm hoping to get a few show size corals like that as well. BTW I'm serious about when your PBTA splits though.

I'm working on keeping the fish I have right now for the next couple of weeks then we will see what happens. I won't be adding any corals till I see the cycle done.

>>>Thank you BAX for the nice words.

wow... that GBTA had the footprint of my tank haha.
nyvp...how long do you think it will take to complet the cycle on a tank this size...and also...b/c the lr has been in another tank for so long...how much of a cycle do you think there will be?

Hope or know? I hope I won't have that big of a cycle because of the amount of sand and live rock I put in. What will happen .... No idea the next few weeks will tell.

is it just me or does that last picture look more like a frogspawn then a hammer?

You may be right. I bought another I think is a Hammer

clekchau:

I bought it from a local club member named Rogger, hes changing around his tank and this guy was getting to big.
