nice workmanship on that skimmer. can you get a cleaning magnet into the base chamber?

you dont need to it all comes apart for cleaning.

So you have the skimmer there now? Looks like Spazz's garage still. That is incredibly good if the skimmer is pulling that kind of air with that much head pressure. That means it will take a small to med air pump to max it out.

The only comment I have about the skimmer is that the cup seems unnecessarily gigantic. I seriously doubt you are going to use it to collect the skimmate. I would put a drain in it to a 5g bucket in the floor. God knows we all have too many of those buckets laying around waiting for a good use. That will so much easier to change and drain than trying to carry that full cup with several gallons of skimmate. That is what I did with mine anyway.

dgasmd, that is what i am contemplating is having a 5 gallon waste collecter built. how did you build yours? any pictures?

Mine is as simple as simple gets. I took a 1/2" hose draining from the collection cup and the hose empties right into an open 5g bucket. I did not want to overly complicate that unnecessarily, but I have seen all kinds fo design for it with lids on and carbon chambers for the air exit. I want to see the level on the bucket, and since it is in my garage where it gets tons of air exchange, I don't care about smells. Mine never smells.

so you don't have anything to prevent stopping the skimmer if it goes crazy to prevent flooding the house ? that is what i am looking for.

What you are looking for is not possible to be used with these types of skimmers. Only downdrafts or becket skimmers can have an auto shut off due to their designs. I had one with my previous becket skimmer and they do work well for them.

Not true. I have a float switch in my collection container that will shut off the recirc pump when it gets full.

It works very well, but you do add a float switch, low voltage power supply and a relay. So, it is not as simple as a float shutting off the air.
