200G up three sets of stairs?

Whatever you end up doing, please don't use the glass suctions... the last time we moved we used those on our 1/2' thick glass 7ft tank and the thing was so heavy the suctions kept sliding on us. Mind you the suctions were the same ones used by our friend who professionally installs glass windows and he even made sure they were attached correctly during the whole process. Nothing worse than picturing it dropping on the floor let alone rolling down the stairs on top of someone. :eek2:

Have you made the move yet????

I just got my AGA 210 in (72x24x29). It was no problem for me and one other guy to carry if from the truck to the garage about 20 feet. I have a friend with an appliance hand truck comming this week to move it into the basement. I have no doubt that the two of us will be able to handle it.

No didn't move it yet, the operation will take place in mid July...

I might not use the suction cups...not even sure I could find them anyways... the hand truck (dollie) has 2 handles so 2 guys could pull on a handle and 2 could push from underneath...

I got a few numbers of piano movers, I will call them up this week to see how much this would cost me... I don't mind paying up to 200-250$ if the tank is fully insured...

if the steps are carpet you can slide it up the stairs with 2 guys pushing and a strap around the tank with 2 pulling. I have carried a 180 with just 2 people up 1 flight. I have also slid a 180 down 1 flight. If your stairs aren't carpeted you can pick a 2x4x8 or 10 and nail it to the steps so that the tank can slide up it.

Somehow I doubt the other condo owners in the building will like that idea ;)
And the steps aren't made of wood, ceramic I believe...

way to reassure me buddy! :P
Im confident you'll get er done. The thought of moving it 3 stories though my lord thats determination. Commendable. Hey if the sugar ants can eat thru a block wall to get the lolli pop my kid hid under the stack of newspapers in the kitchen, carry it off in tiny pieces and leave a bare stick....You got this no problem.

hahaha now that's the motivation I need!!

Yeah ants are insane little creatures, while in Mexico a few weeks back I saw a small group (maybe 20-30 of them) of the smallest ants I've ever seen, much smaller than the ones we have here in canada carry a HUGE bug (almos t3 inches long, similar to a praying mantis) and they carried it almost 3 feet away into the grass in under 30 minutes!!!! I just sat there watching them all that time in total awe.

Well I dont want to scare the daylights out of anyone but here in Florida, Its not uncommon for red ants to kill people in nursing homes that are bed ridden. When I said they ate thru a block wall, I wasnt telling fairy tales. They literally grain by grain ate thru the block wall until they got into the house. Ants never sleep. Another note, a red ant bite one day can be no big deal, leave a little welt next day you get bit again, it can give you an alergic reaction that can kill you. Specifically the red ants down here. They are amazing. Theres a wasp they are breeding here that eats the heads off the ants and the lizards eat them by the dozdens but othere than that they have no predators. See you never know what R.C. can teach you lol..Well I wish you all the luck bud. I have my own moving story coming with a 290 or 240 (I havent decided just yet) to move into my house. Since Im fairly new to the area I dont have many friends to help. So as a Mechanical designer Im gonna design a contraption to do the lifting for me.. Yea, should rival a Willie Coyote ACME purchase but its all I can do without extra muscle.
