2014 Family Fun Day - Sat. July 19th

Hi Everyone,

The club is proud to announce this year's Family Fun Day is Saturday July 19th.

All memberships must be current, we will not be offering membership renewals or sign ups the day of; if you're not sure please ask Vinny or myself and we'll let you know when your membership expires.

New for this year, the Birds and Butterflies exhibit will now be included.

I'll have the sign up page ready soon along with the costs.
 
LIRA members pay $10 per person, lunch is included.
Non club members pay $10 for admission to the aquarium or $32 for admission and lunch per person.
Children under 3 are free.

So member, spouse and 2 kids will cost $40.
Non member, spouse and 2 kids would be $40 for just admission or $128 for admission and lunch.
 
So, what types of things will be happening at the lunch? I will likely be bringing my GF and best friend. What should I expect?
 
I look forward to meeting everyone though and I hope you have pictures of your tanks and stuff with you so I can see them myself. I look forward to a nice day at the aquarium, some interesting new acquaintances and good conversation among peers.

I will not be bringing my GF or best friend at the current time, but am still hopeful one of them might want to join me for the long car ride there.
 
Well this is a club first ......

Due to lack of members signing up for Family Fun Day the event is being cancelled.

For the VERY few that signed up, all 3 of them, Vinny will be issuing you a refund.
 
Just an observation - perhaps announcing the date 3 weeks before the event was a little too late, and the sign up page was only there for a week?

Was going to buy my tickets tomorrow...bummer.
 
Dates are not completely in our control, we have to reserve a room with catering so if the dates we want are booked we have to take whats available.

I usually make the announcements a month before, not sure I'd say the 1 or 2 weeks made that big a difference vs the event historically being in August but would like to hear from others if we were wrong.

I was going to sign up myself, girlfriend and at least 2 other friends. Thanks for attempting to set it up anyway.
 
I guess I was one of the three, but if I hadnt just spoken with my wife I wouldnt have signed up the day before this announcement. I was originally planning to sign up this weekend. I think the bigger issue was no RSVP deadline, so I didnt feel any rush or urgency. I wonder how many others had felt the same. I know I'm pretty bummed about this. Was the main reason I took the family membership.
 
I know the dates are dependent on the Aquarium availability but July is a tough month. I know of 4 regular members( Phil, Matt, Ted and myself) that had already made vacation plans. The original date of 8/2 was good for all of us. In no way am I being critical of the club but I think July might have had something to do with the turn-out. I know for myself I have never missed a Family Fun Day(or many other club related functions) and look forward to it each year.
Maybe next year :(
