Don't mind the dirty glass but we are full SW and one Radion

Added sand over the last 2 days. I'll take a pic tomorrow once the tank clears but I'm really digging the special floor grade sand from Carbisea.

Any recommendations on dosing pumps? I need one with at least 3 heads.

Well, murphy would strike when I'm out of town. Got a text last night at 3 AM local time that the aquarium had 1" of water in the stand. We had a power outage earlier in the day and the tank must have back siphoned from the returns, overflowing the sump. Thank goodness I had Chris Benner install an acrylic tray in the bottom of the sump. Saved my floors from a certain flood. Of course when the power came back on, the ATO drained trying to compensate so the Tunze osmolator was also going crazy. All in all, a good test of my tray but I'm upset I didn't make the returns siphon less from the main tank.

I'll check in today and see how everything looks.

Well that is why we build redundancy or have backup plans for our tanks. No matter what we will overlook something or have a failure. Sounds like your pre planning paid off and now you can add some redundancy to things to insure it doesn't happen again

Yea, good thing for that tray. Can you keep the water level a little lower in the sump? Ideally it should be able to handle all the back siphon from the tank when power goes out.

I can run it lower but what I need to do is raise the returns up a bit so that they do not back siphon as much water when the power is turned off. First thing I will do when I return home.

Yes, the tray definitely saved me and my floors. I need to fix a few issues moving forward.

Sucks about the overflow, but glad it was captured in the tray. The top of my return nozzle just touches the water surface, and when I cut power I still have about 4-5" in my sump. I tested that out the first day it was filled lol

How do you like your Eheim 1262 return pump?

The retune pump is fine. I'm considering replacing it with the Vectra M1 though. Not sure I want to drop another $300 on it though.

I should have done that when I first set up my tank. Fool me once...

Got in some double sided tape to finish up the wiring. Also got in my Mars hydro fuge lamp. Thing is bright and way pink. Will need to finish the stand soon to keep the light bleed down

Also placed an order for some snails, cheato, some pods and a few Gorgs. Kinda hard to see behind the begging fish

Tank was really cloudy for the past few days. Skimmate, ORP and pH were all down. Not sure what happened. Added some GFO to the tank and it is clearing up. Fish and gorgs are fine. I ordered an ozone generator to try and bump up the ORP and clear the water a bit.
