2015 Dream Tank Giveaway

Got the stand and canopy delivered today.

I can't say enough about Chris Benner at Benner Woodworking. He worked with me over the past few months and I couldn't be happier. His attention to detail is amazing and besides being a great carpenter, he is also quite the engineer. I had a pair of actuators from a former build and wanted to incorporate them for this build. He worked with Progressive Automation and 80/20 to lay out a great system and I can't wait to get the lights hung in this beautiful canopy.

And finally, the tank, built by the one and only Felix Bordon at Reef Savvy. Armored seams, starfire glass, ghost overflow, oh MY.

Tank is a dream, dimesions are amazing, the quality of the seams and the fit over the entire system is fantastic.

Sump is quite impressive as well. Who doesn't need low iron starphire glass on the sump? I feel bad getting it wet, well, almost.

Well worth the wait in my opinion. If I ever move from this tank, I'll be ordering from Felix again.

On to the pics.

We didn't take any during the move. Basically we flipped the tank on its back, up a few stairs and onto a dolley.

Stand was a little more complicated so we picked it up and carried it through the double doors and into the house

Lift tank and place it on the stand. Viola.

Canopy is light so my wife and I slide it on to snap a few pics

Here are a couple of just the tank since I haven't posted any yet.

You can see the stand in he back ground

I got a call from the stand delivery company. Apparently, they have had trouble getting a tractor trailer into my neighborhood because of some issues with the road. The driver asked if I could meet him at the front of the neighborhood and come up with a plan.

We only have one way in and out of the neighborhood, but there is an access road for the construction trucks. I told him to try to drive down that road instead.

Wow, talk about a high end build! Such an awesome prize! Congrats.. A BK skimmer would be an awesome addition, although you might have to rethink your plumbing color choices to red and white :)

Ha. Felix and I had a conversation about that. I think I'll paint the BK black and blue instead :)

Which BK are you thinking about? I have a SM 200 on my 125 and it is way way way to much, now I need to find something more "appropriate ".

Slowly getting the plumbing done. I hate keeping everything clean :)

Ordered a new Bubble King today.

Need to move my Nyos now. Anyone interested? $100 off retail.

Nice progress so far, I'm confused though. You won the skimmer, so the dimmensions were known. And yet, the sump was built in a way that it wouldn't fit? Did you happen to request a change in the dimensions, or was this a screw up? Obviously considering you won this all, not a huge deal to go out and get a skimmer, but you'd think if you get a complete package, they would make sure they fit it all in properly.

The skimmer was direct shipped to me. So Felix only knew the "online dimensions". In hind sight we should have discussed this when he built the sump. Oh well.

Need more pichers ;)

Hey Chris, what did you use for padding under the tank? I went with the black 1/4 neoprene for a sleek look, but it was a pain to cut and meet up flush with the tank. I just realized... I think the top of your stand has a wood trim around it so it won't be visible?

Yes, he hide the bottom trim with a bit of wood. I put 1/2" foam under mine

I'll put up more pictures just for you Marty.
