a 2020 alum stand for a 16 gal, is it worth it??
Total for parts it's going to be less than $120 including hinges and door handles, it could be worth it if it's strong enough!!
I don’t have any experience with this type of material and was wondering if a stand for a 16 gallons nano tank be strong enough to support it or is it to thin?
My planned measurements for the stand are 32”Hx22”Lx22”.
Any info is greatly appreciated!!
Not only will 2020 work, it's way over kill. Don't of think it as a hollow bar, but something that is as strong as a full 1 inch bar. If you download their program you can see the deflection rating and it's stupid strong. Here is my 55 on 1010. I've been running it for over a year now with no issues.. If you try to kick the stand it will easily break your leg. :lolspin:

So to answer your question, yes it will work. It will look really cool too.. but I would go 1010 unless you want the coolness factor :eek1:
One more note.. the stand will only be as strong as the connectors you use, so spend the money here. You can see what I used by zooming in on my stand pic.
Thanks for the info pga7602, it really helped me a lot. So for the connectors I was planning on getting this(first picture) but now I think it will be way over kill, I mean they're not expensive, but since you used corner angle connectors (last picture) I think I'll use those instead. Thank you again man!!
Once you go 8020, you will never go back. This is my second stand. It's like Legos, you can keep reusing the parts.
Hey pga7602, I've got my material already to build the stand, but I was wondering if I should ad a cross bracing to the stand, it's going to be a 32"x 24"x 24" I'm planning to put a wood board on top, of the same size, should I ad the brace or it'll be fine? Tank is 12"x 18"x 18" FIY!!
No need till your next upgrade lol
Have fun!
I'm toying with the idea of making a light rack for 6 gen5 XR30's with 2020. its that overkill not enough or just right?

I did my light rack with 8020. although I do want to wrap it sooner or later it does have a great look.

Which 8020 profile did you use Richard. I think that's what I'm really trying to help with here.
