20g BB SPS nano

nice!! hey F&E could you direct me to some of your posts about some experimental additives youve been trying i searched and couldnt find anything..i read some threads here you were doing some experiments with different stuff...thanks

i met Rod today at macna :) i only use his food its fantastic, also had a look at both of the MCE skimmers and i need to find myself a 600 skimmer did you buy used?

BTW Prodibio has released a new line of NANO reef pack with formulations in 10g increments the owner gave me a trial and talked to me some i fed the reef booster and corals went nuts the dosages would be just right fo your nano

cherub, it's a 20 H.

nothing to really read in those posts and nothing to really share at this point. i have experimented.... a lot  at this point i dose a blend of amino acids and occasionally creatine. when i want the water a bit clearer a mix of c sources (sugar, acetate, vodka) search for pjf's recent thread on inorganic carbon...it covers a ton of info and thanks to meso and chris, imo one of the best posts i've ever come across on these boards. it has much more info than any of my threads. if you look at studies done re: inorganic carbon and aa utilization you can find i the formula for their own c&n dosing used in the experiment... that's all i will say....

that's good news about prodibio, i tried their stuff and sticking vials in potatoes and keeping them in your fridge didnt last long. i may pick it back up if this is the case.... direct dosing media in the chamber of the mce should have some great results. i need to get my params more stable though, the corals are sucking ca/alk faster than i can keep up with.

rod's food is great. be careful though it can pollute the water quickly, i use a mix of rod's and hikari marine-s. i did get the mce used, at a great deal....couldnt pass it up.

updates: gave my yellow tang to a friend to live a happy life in a 200g. my plans to upgrade have downsized and have been pushed back due to work and school. it sounds like it will be 24x30x21 with 30 being the depth front to back for some great aquascaping...lit by MH, halogen color spots and LED par spots that can be controlled, changed color and dimmed....

good news is i've been over feeding like crazy and po4 and no3 have not increased. with the tang gone, i'm going to have to keep feeding heavy to prevent nutrients from dipping too low...heavy aa dosing will most likely be needed.

my chromis have recently paired up. before the lights go off they do a dance and chase around the tank and literally lock lips. i am hoping that with the absence of the tang, the clowns and chromis will spawn. i have a picture of them kissing, and will post it when i get a chance.

i am also looking into some apogons and japanese glass fish to add a school of, but wouldnt mind adding a another pair of small fish instead. we shall see

i am the proud owner of a Paracentropyge multifasciatus...one of my favorite angels. he has quickly made friends with our cleaner shrimp.

man i sure wish my 10 looked that nice.......

looks like i will have to rip my tank apart, YET again...LO

very inspirational...well done..

thanks for the compliments guys.

he made it through his first night, always a good thing... and has developed quite the personality. last night whenever i'd walk by the tank he'd dart right to the front for some attention. i've seen him eat, but he's a bit slow...so hopefully he will catch on and start competing with the other fish soon..."spot feeding" him will cause me to overfeed more than even the mce can handle.

iirc, i'm running
ge6.5k
aquablue
blue+
aquablue

here's another pic of this beauty. he's still picking at the LR and has only eaten 1 pellet and is currently ignoring rod's. Tonight i'll try some other foods and hopefully i can fatten him up.

so far so good.

it's a risk, but if he develops a taste oh well. all of the paracentropyge's are difficult to care for...multi's included. venustus seems to be the hardiest of them. most are considered "deepwater" and in general, ime, deepwaters usual dont pick much at SPS.

i bet it would eat sponge of some sort.

Sick angel, I hope you can get him eating. Are they compatible with other angels? I have a flameback and would love to add one of these guys. Keep us updated on how it is doing.

in a large enough tank, yes. mixing dwarfs can be very tricky. i'd suggest looking up the typical territory size of the species you'd like to keep. some have 80m2 territories that will probably not mix well with others.

...not much luck eating....tried live brine, frozen+garlic, and nori+garlic, and broccoli.

i'll be going to the market to grab some scallops to crack open for him and see if he goes for that. he seemed interested in the brocc, i will also try that with some garlic additive.

i am overfeeding the tank beyond belief and purposely trying to grow as much algae as possible for him...it's surprisingly difficult with the deltec.

still not much luck eating prepared foods, but he has gotten fatter. the tank is not low nutrient and algae is present  , but the angel is getting fatter as there is plenty for him to graze on. on a side note, he has been named leonardo

luckily from heavier creatine dosing in the past i have a large population of filter feeders which he enjoys nipping at. he's showing more interest in frozen foods and i am confident that soon he will begin eating.

the tank will be going through some changes as I prepare for our 24x36x21 rimless. that tank will be all spot lighting incorporating MH, LED, and Halogen. in the next few weeks i will begin building the light rack and some of the lighting will be tested on the nano.

here's a teaser shot of a new addition... thanks to PSam for this huge frag.
