20L or 20H

Long tanks look better imo. I have seen some awesome high tanks, but long tanks especially small ones look bigger and the fish seem happier to me. I have a 20 long and really like the size, although 30 longs are my all time favorites.

It depends.
For efficient use of the light, bigger floor area for corals placement, easier access to the glass and the bottom cleaning, place for the fish to swim - 20L.

For special occasions (more light and extra efforts in efficient voulume use, or for deepwater tank, also for a small spaces) - 20H or 20XH, as here:

Man that is a tough one...I like how the longs look in the pics better than the high. When I had my 15 gal. Via Aqua tank it was tall and I had great rock work but I always wished that I had more surface area to place corals on the sand, and more room for my fish to swim. And like others have said not all corals want to be directly under the light so no worries with 30" vs 24" Whatever you decide make it your own!

i agree with kermit, get the 30L instead... then you get the best of both worlds.

Yeah, 30L 30L 30L!!!! LOL. I would have restarted my 30 long if I had the space at the time. Thats the perfect size for a small reef set up IMO.

i got the 20 long. i didnt get a 30 because i just got my 60 and still wanted a nano.

If you can't do the 30L, 20L is the way to go IMO.

Um why dont you go with a 29 gallon. The I think you will be getting the best of both worlds. You have the 30" long for the length but also the 17" or so in height. So basically the height of the 20H and the length of the 20L. I believe they are both the same width. Plus you get 9 more gallons to play with.

if you go with the 20H, you will be able to aquascape more of a shelving structure with many places for corals
