210 build PIC INTENSE

I had a blue tang by itself in a tank with peaceful mates. No ich right? Wrong, everytime I beat it just kept coming back! Stress IS the x-factor and it could hit you out of nowhere like a mack truck

thanks everyone....
i wish i could have left the dt fallow for the entire 8weeks but it didnt work out that way so i guess i am going to have to wait and see how things work out...
i am going to start investing in more equipment before i put any more live stock in. I need to do some more research on the stuff first though....i dont know much about reactors, controllers, and monitors.....

what would be some good equipement for my tank.... other than RODI unit, ATO, carbon reactor, GFO reactor, that i already purchased?

I think that when doing a mixed reef you always make a bit of comprimise between the needs of the SPS and softies. LPS are sort of in the middle and do a pretty good job of handling a setup for SPS or sofites. I don't know if you run much carbon (I have tagged along but I forget this exact setup) but I know softies engage in allelopathy that slow SPS growth. Some believe macro algae does this as well but it has not yet been clearly demonstrated in science literature. You may see more SPS growth with the carbon reactor you mention.

well if thats the case then i am going to order another carbon reactor....because i have a ton of different macro's in my fuge...and more soft corals than lps and sps, right now.

The one you have may be sufficient, just pointing out the possibility of chemical warfare between corals :) Not something that really gets talked about much. Generally light and flow requirements between various corals can be mitigated by placement in tank. I have heard stories of softies not reacting well to GFO, but genrally in ovedose situations. SOmething to watch for.

anyone know if its ok to keep two flame hawks in a two ten? I have one now and he is so cool and colorful i would like another one but i cant find much info on keeping two of them!

five stage RODI is up and running....finally.
I am looking at getting some monitors for ph, salinity, calcium, and maybe some others but i cant find one that will do all of what i want. Is there one that you can pick specific probes and they all are on one monitor?
Also i want to buy some of the reactors for carbon and gfo from bulk reef supply....anyone know the best way to do a setup with two canasters for each media.... or if you have another idea that would be better?

ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS STUFF IS? LIGHT PURPLE IN THE MIDDLE....

Not sure of the scientific name, but it is often called red cotton ( or fuzz ) algae. Manual removal, less nutrients in the water, and Mexican turbos help.

I believe some folks grow it in fuges on purpose. But like any other algae it can get out of hand rapidly in the display.

Eleganceman. First, your screen name does not even come close to describing the type of person you are. Your post do resemble a Jerry Springer show, very basic and confrontational. Your way of dealing with people is disrespectful (are you a bill collector by trade?). You are clearly not as savy with your tank knowledge as you believe you are(algae in initial post remind me of a sewer). If you know so much, you should start your own website. Not sure what it should be called though. Try listening without critisizing, it will take you places in life.

I can relate to how it feels when others attack you. I truly believe though, that most everyone has been trying to help you. Some of this has really been sad and depressing.

I hope you do not think that I am attacking you here because I am just trying to help and I am thinking of these beautiful creatures. How many damsels do you have in there? I know they are beautiful, but they will eventually become aggressive if they are not already. You may have some stressed out fish in the future.

You have the start of a beautiful aquarium. Please think of the animals, that's all I am asking.

I have a five stage unit from bulk reef supply and it is worth its weight in gold.... I have nine yellow tailed damsels.....in a 210 gallon.
