210 build PIC INTENSE

If you got a kalk reactor and ran your RO/DI water through that into your tank that would really help your pH and Alk levels.

As far as controllers I have a RKE and I love it. But the APEX also looks nice. They have started shipping I believe. I am actually suprised I haven't seen any reviewss of it yet.

would have suggested a kalk reactor but if your not having ph problems I would really suggest a calcium reactor and make sure the effluent is dripped right in front of your skimmer to prevent any ph problems, and you should be set they work very well especially from geo or koralin

wow...i actually read all the pages of this post and what a turnaround. in the beginning i really though you were an idiot (dont take it the wrong way). now i finally think you have listened to ppl here, changed some of your bad habits, and used your disposable income on better things for your tank, not just overloading it with fish and corals.
i have to say, good save....

strange thing is my calcium is staying around 500 and i never dose for it at all?

that is strange indeed, what test kit are you using, and do you have one from a separate company to compare results?

Ca will only fall 20ppm for every 1dKh used in calcification, so it may appear to be the same but it is likely moving around a little. Just not enough for your test kit to pick up. What kind is the test kit? So you could have a fairly large Alk swing and the Ca could appear to be fairly stable.

wow man. your tank looks awsome! i was getting kinda depressed in the beginning of this thread lol. it seemed like no one was answering any of your questions and all they said was slow down. very frustrating. i was thinking to myself "geese these people need to stop ganging up on him and approach it in a nicer way." just curious, what salt do you use? my calcium stays extremely high now because oceanic salt. my alk stays around 10 and calcium around 570...... or at least thats what my two calcium tests say.

My alk does have a large swing and from what i was told by the previous owner of this 16" clam, it uses up alk like crazy! It goes from 9 or 10 to 7 in a week.
I use api test kits and I know I should order something a little better....which ones?

thanks, I use reef crystals!

I really have only made a couple of changes to my tank! Started using rodi system, took out bioballs(which was always planned) and lately I have removed some of the fish:
two large yellow tangs....they started fighting so bad one jumped out of the tank!
foxface, was getting big and starting to nip at my brain coral
flame angel, nipping at acans
flame hawk, killed a couple anthias
and today i am working on getting out my large gold maroon stripe clown because he keeps waying sand onto my worm brain coral.

Salifert test kits work for me.

I would try elos for alk and salifert for calcium, i used api for about a year wondering why my specs where so great all the time yet my tank was just ok looking, I sent my water to a testing company and was shocked with the results so I have pretty much chucked api in the trash permanately

ok i have tried catching this GSM all day with my glass beaker and he is the only fish that will not go inside....even the large tangs go right in with some food! I am ready to use a mini harpoon to get him! He keeps covering my aussie worm brain with sand!!!

hmmm. well what i do is starve the tank for 3 days and only have 1 cube of food in the bottle. eventually they will go after the food. the problem usually is catching the wrong guy.... sorry im not much help

my goby is not a shy guy at all. he literally swims into my hand and sits there. so what i did was i put him in a bare quarantine tank for a while. you could do that with your fish that keep eating all the food. (if you have one properly set up that is)
