WLachnit I just remembered I have a little step latter in the garage that I can sacrifice haha.

I noticed there is also a b10 version of the skimmer I linked above.

The b10 is rated for 560 gallons where as the b11 is rated for 800. I'm tempted to go with the larger skimmer just to have some wiggle room. I'm a little worried about overskimming with the b11 though.

This weekend I'm going to run out and grab a 75 gallon for the sump. I'm probably going to order acrylic for the baffles online.

I'm am reading a lot of threads that say the 300dd overflows can only handle about 1400 gph but those were from a few years ago. Another guy mentioned in a thread much more recently that he runs about 1900 gph through his with no problems so i was thinking that maybe marineland changed the design of their overflows to accomadate more flow. Has anybody purchased a 300dd in the past year or so that knows how much flow the overflows can take? It'd be nice to know before I spend money on a return pump that's too strong. I'm looking to run about 3000gph if possible.

Got the sump in and the stand painted. I still need to add a few more supports and face the stand with raised panels to clean it up.

I picked up my rock and baffles yesterday. The glass baffles are a few mm's to wide. I was thinking about picking up a diamond file to shave down the baffles a few millimeters but I'm not sure how well that would work. I spent $120 on the glass, sucks that i didn't give them the right measurements. You live and you learn I guess.

I bought 120 lbs of reef saver and 15 lbs of Tonga branch.

One problem I'm coming across is the possibility of moving to Colorado next may( I'm currently in delaware).
I'm tired of Delaware and everything that's in it but I also want to set this tank up. Right now I'm planning on setting it up and then if I decide to move when the time comes, I guess I'll have to tear the 300 down and move it across country lol!

Sorry for the late response ive been caught up with work. Right now the sump should be able to hold roughly 25-30 gallons of overflow water. That's probably cutting it pretty close with a 300 gallon but we'll see.

An update on the rock.

I let the rock sit in a brute trashcan of rodi for a little over a week. I removed them this morning and the water was pretty yucky. I'm glad I'm curing the rock beforehand because that's something I didn't do with my 90g.(I cured and cycled in the tank). I'm mixing up saltwater as we speak in the brute so I can start cycling the rock.


On a side note:

I've been thinking a bit about the stocking list and I'm considering throwing a zebra or dwarf golden moray into the mix.
I'll have a few tangs, the fish I currently have (2 clowns, firefish, watchman goby, chromis, and a mandarin) and possibly a trigger.

My concern is the eel knocking corals over and breaking them and possibly eating both the goby and mandarin. Last thing i want is for the eel to swim clumsily around the tank destroying everything. I'm willing to risk the few small fish because from what I've heard dwarf morays don't tend to eat fish.
So...... anyone have any luck with these guys?

Got em cycling now. Hopefully the 1 powerhead is enough flow. The rocks are pretty crammed in there.

Thanks James. I already have some 2x6s for the ends. I just haven't gotten to installing them because I am debating lining the bottom of the stand with plywood. Once I decide on that I'll be installing the side supports. Thank you!

A little update. For the return pump I went with the laguna max flo 2400. I did all of the math and after I put 90 gph through the fuge(3x per hour) and the head height I should be getting around 1500gph through the sump...... So about 5x an hour which is what I was hoping for. In the beginning I was leaning towards higher flow, but I think I'll be happy with this.

The pump was a lot bigger than I was expecting, so I had to take it apart to fit it into the return since the cross brace was in the way then reassemble it.

I took most of the fish out of the 90 to put them in qt. I am re-treating them with prazi pro and cupramine just to be safe. I don't want to risk infecting the 300 with anything. The only fish left in the 90 is a firefish, and I think I might have to wait till I take the rest of the rock out to catch it because he keeps hiding inside of a rock which has a bunch of coral encrusted on it.

I also finished the plumbing for my rodi. The water mixing station is pretty much done except the saltwater bucket is currently being used to cycle the 300g live rock. So once I get the tank and can empty the trashcan, I'll finish the station.

So there have been a lot of problems between my lfs and marineland communication wise (according to them) but the tank finally shipped out today. It's should show up monday and I'll pick it up. I'm pretty excited even though I'm $2200 more broke.

So I get a phone call this morning(2 days after the tank supposedly shipped) from my lfs telling me that the tank is unavailable. I gave them $2200 upfront and now they tell me it's unavailable. I'm getting pretty fed up with this.

I ended up calling another place about 2 hours away and they have one in stock for $1799. A lot better deal haha. I have it on hold and picking it up sunday.

I might start a new build thread when I pick it up since the title of this one says 210 gallon, plus I haven't done a good job of inserting these pictures :spin1:
