210G Upgrade / Build (Lots of Pics)

Did you guys just use a standard roundover router bit to do the door edges?

I'm not sure of the exact bit that he used. I can check. Not sure how well it comes across in the pictures, but the door is actually recessed into the stand.

Here is a picture of one of the end panels with the finish completed.

Here it is against my entertainment center to see the color match. Picture doesn't do it justice in terms of color.

On the reverse side, there are four magnets to hold it in place. The panel will be removable to access the electrical compartment on the left end. The right end panel will be accessible as well for access to the sump.

Yeah if you dont mind can you ask him what kinda bit he used, I was told i would have to miter the corners of my doors to get a routed edge.

He told me this afternoon, but I forgot the name he told me. I think he said it was some sort of door bit. I know he said it was a Freud bit. I'll ask again and write it down!

Minor update. Stand only has the crown molding to go, then the remainder of the finish work which has already started.

Mock-up of the crown molding before doing it with the walnut. Modified from the first pass to "wrap around" the face frame.

I'm currently re-thinking the canopy. Trying to decide how to make it as accessible as I'd like for tank maintenance, but also easy for day to day feeding and such. More soon on that front...

Stand continues to move along. I am also committed to doing the canopy lift. I got the linear rails that will be used to provide the lift structure. I have ordered the linear actuators as well that will be the muscle. Two with 400lbs of lift and 36" movement range. Should be enough to get good access. They will run at about 0.6"/sec, so it'll be about a minute to raise or lower the canopy. I plan to still have doors in the front to allow for basic stuff like feeding.

A few more stand pics:

And the linear rails....

the stand is coming along very nicely!
Light rigs with actuators are awesome. I would be constantly raising them and lowering them every time I had company round just to show off how cool they are!
I wish I had the ceiling height to be able to accomodate them.
Great build so far, nice one.

Thanks. 10ft ceilings should work out ok here. I think the top is going to be about 6ft to 6.5ft. Then I've got just under 3ft of lift, so about 9.5ft at max. Just fits, or so I hope... we'll see how it all comes together. I want to post a video of it operating if I can figure out how to do that.

Checked out the stand today. Stand is stained and it's just down to finish work. Tank is getting close, too. Got pictures today from Felix. Top bracing work, overflow installation, and blacking out the back is still left.
