It depends on the instruction that came with the tank and who built the stand. When I got my Leemar 110 rimless, the instructions were very explicit that it had to be on a solid, level and smooth surface. I knew this already from experience but the manufacturer was very clear. If the OP didn't build the stand but rather purchased it from a manufacturer, then the manufacturer should have clearly stated how to install the tank. If the stand was a custom build by the OP, then perhaps the bullet should be bitten.
And since this is the newbie forum, I'd cut the OP some slack. We've all made horrible mistakes and used this forum to share our pain. Just a cruddy situation.

It's hard to read emotions on forums, we all make mistakes. I was only agreeing that it was probably on the op side for the damage.
Yeah everyone makes mistakes.
It's like this, if I have a 20 gauge shotgun and put a 12 gauge shell into it and blow my gun apart.
I don't go after the manufacturer because I messed up.
Just trying to say karma is everything. I would hate the bad luck that will fillow if you lie to the manufacturer to get a new tank.

Is this a reef ready tank or is it drilled after purchase? If the tank was drilled after purchase the warranty is void...making this a non issue concerning the warranty.

Bad example as 12 gauge shell will not fit in a 20 gauge barrel. The diameter of the 12guage is bigger than the diameter of the 20 gauge barrel.
Anyhow, I wish all the best to the OP and I hope that this negative experience will not turn you away from this hobby.
This is true as an example I failed. Either way I hope the point was made....
