220 Gallon Reef LED Lighting ???

Hello all I will be building a 220 gallon reef tank shortly withing the next few weeks have everything pretty much set picked out and and set and ready to go accept for lighting I figured this was the place to ask since this is where all the larger tanks are.

Here's what I'm currently looking at 3 Acan 600 Series 1 (24") 2 (18") fixtures bring me to to a rough total of around $1800.00

I plan on running mostly soft coral some stonys and and clams maybe we'll see tell me am I on the right track for the lighting the dimensions for the tank are 72.5″ x 24.5″ x 29″

I have a 210 gal that I'm cycling at the moment and have on order two programmable Reefbreeder Photon32's for $450 each. 99 led's in each photon32 .

Best bang for the buck I have found.

i have only 3 AI sol's over my standard perfecto 220 and im having no issues with sps growing

David im not familiar with lights you chose ill have to check them out

@Cowdust WOW! only 3 Al Sols I figured id need 4 or 5 fir a 220 gallon

What do you guys think if the Acans I chose and sizes am I on the right teack?

I have Radions and a rapid led onyx fixture over my 220. I think you would be very pleased with either option. The Rapids will offer you a solution for roughly half what the Radions will, but aren't controllable. The tank of the month tank is using Radions just as a FYI

Dmorty How many of the Radions Radion xr30w you have on your 220 3?

No I have one i see i have Radions plural in the previous post, with the rapid and also two Chinese made led fixtures. I am doing a yr long experiment to see which lights produce the most color and growth under each fixture. You could definitely do three over your 220 with no problems. Also make sure you can hang them a ft and a half to 2 ft over your tank to have them turned up to 100%. If you watch the vivid aquarium video on YouTube you will see why I am saying that. My Radion is only turned up to 70% to keep from burning up corals near the top of tank and mine is about a ft off the water

Thanks Dmorty I'll check out the video so you would go with 3 of the Radion Xr30w over the Acan 600's I appreciate it. Which one did you go with i see there's the second generation with the colored leds and there's also the pro but I think that would be over kill.

It the Gen 2 one, the pro which are more $ have another 10 LEDs including UV, but the verdict is still out on how beneficial UV LEDs are

Well thanks for all the feed back guys I've been looking at the Radions the, Al Vegas they will be my final 2 choices i think.

If you have vortech pumps I would recommend Radion lights, they all like together if the pumps are wireless. My MP60 goes in night mode when the Radion turns off and resumes normal operation when the light turns on.

Huh! Either way think i could i could get by with 3 Al Vega or 3 Radion since I don't plan on doing sps coral dominant more mixed type tank.

Oh you mentioned that earlier duh i'd be fine with 3 since i'm not doing sps dominant i've been doing so much research these past few days my head is spinning. I should start the order hopefully the end of this week hopefully I can't wait to get started
