hi all i just got my new 375 gallon tank. i wanna move my reef from my 220 into it. Do i need to cycle in the new tank since iam only able to move around a 150 gallons of the water, due to all the live rock and stuff in it?.. The new 375 only has one overflow in the corner of it. The LFS said one is enough for this size tank. My 220 has 2 overflows in it. Dont make sense to me. Do i need another overflow for this tank to be a reef tank? Thank you.

I guess to some extent, that depends upon the design of the single overflow and your overall plans for the reef.

What are the dims of the 375?

If it's a 2" overflow it should be fine, your'e risking things with a single 1-1/2". But if you want it quiet and failsafe two overflows are better. I have two 2" drains in my 250G, if one ever buggers up I can run off the other untill it's fixed, even i that's never. I can't see how a single drain could handle 5-10X your tank volume!

the overflow is 12 x7 with 2 1 1/2 drains in it.

then technically it's a dual overflow.
I think the scum off the surface will be removed whether a small box or coast to coast overflow.. Either solution works well with adequate flow. I think a cost to coast allows for less or gentler flow.
