220g tank - Acrylic or glass

Great info...I too have been thinking of going bigger, like a 120g but with the 48x24 footprint and in the pennisula style. The question I have is; Can the acrylic be painted black around where the overflow will be? I'll need to be able to mask all that goes on in there and only want to see the actual DT part.
Thanks

It can be painted, or covered/built with black acrylic

I don't know why everyone is afraid of acrylic. Yes you have to be a little more careful. Mostly at the bottom by the sand. What I would often do is to push a little bit of sand up against the wall. This would make it a little higher than the rest of the sand. When I needed to clean close to the wall I would push the sand back some and then clean. It might sound like a lot of work, but it really isn't.

What about getting a black piece of acrylic and gluing it inside the overflow?

That's an idea I did not think of, thanks Lacy. Perhaps when I get this going I will do that along with the paint on the outside to hide any of the glue. I have noticed that my exterior black paint on my corner overflow has started to peel a bit towards the bottom over the years so I think both would be good.
Thanks and good night all....

You're welcome. The idea popped into my head when you mentioned the black paint. I have corner overflows and one is visible when you walk by. I just might do it myself.
