Wow it looks amazing so far, good job! I don't think I ever really got a sense for how large the aquarium is until I saw that picture from inside your fish room. It is enormous!
:D very difficult to get a sense of scale from the photos. It IS quite large. I know its not polite to talk it up, but its pretty cool!

5 ton titanium heater/chiller- bollocks! That's HUGE!
The scale of awesome in this project is mind boggling.

The space above the tank, have you considered building a catwalk or platform up there? something you could climb up onto and maybe look down into the tank from? Easy access for replacing bulbs, etc.?

Thanks for using the word "bollocks" in this thread! One of my favorites... Are you from the UK?

Funny you should ask about the catwalk... I have been contemplating this for a while now... maybe a couple of titanium threaded rods suspended from from the ceiling, holding some rails that I can run a trolley on... need to think about it some more...

ooks great Mark,
i drove past the other day. you are only a minute or 2 from me.
what are the logs out front for?
Damien
Hey Damien, I hope you are well? The logs are bush poles for the swimming pool enclosure.

Everone else... thanks for the comments. I should be able to start with aquarium work in ernest late this month.

Hah, nope, I just like the word.

I'd definitely like to see if you did a catwalk or trolley of sorts. Would bring an added element of "scale" to the sheer size of the tank, IMO.

HEHEHehehe ... thanks for the progress update, its looking great. Funny thing just popped into my head when I was looking at the pictures, "Sharks with Fricken Laser Beams!!!!"

im on 4 weeks holiday, so all good here.

hopefully the working drawings for our reno/extention will be finished today. new tank will be on the way, not quite as big as yours, but still exciting. will also be good to double the size of our house so we can move without running into each other.

looking forward to seeing yours finished. we are over the road from montpellier school, so not far away

Wow, watching this house and aquarium has been great so far. Must be nice to have a small ocean in your home. On with more photos please!

Diablo,

I am planning my own larger reef tank and would be interested which skimmer you are running for this tank. I am planning something in the vicinity of 8000 - 10000 litres. I notice you said early on you where going to use a Custom Recirculating Needle Wheel skimmer - with a 120 Gal. chamber.

Thanks for any help.

I've been watching and can't wait for more pics. Oh how I would love to put a Black tip reef shark in there. mmmuuuaaaaa

wow that sure is a long weekend ... wish i could take a weekend vacation that lasts for a month ... hope you have pics whenever you return
