2300G Cylinder - Preview

I just found this thread. Looks great and I will be following along.

Regarding QTs, you have probably already thought of this, but I would plumb them with the ability to close them off from the main tank. That way, you can exchange the water when you want. Also, I would have a drain under the Q tanks so you can directly drain them if you need to do water changes when quarentining fish (such as with hypo). I would have a faucet with RO unit by the Q tank so you can easily have assess to water.

Do you have a place to store a lot of saltwater? I would have it plumbed to use gravity drains to do water changes so water can be changed and added simply with the turn of a valve.

Diablo- nice tank- now in the home plan, i see a couple of VW beetles- is that hte best you can do for the garage? :)

After looking at the house plan it seems a waste that when you are in the study you can't see the tank, I would rather see it in the study area than in the entry hall. Looks awsome man, wish I could do something like this one day! Can only dream hehe
Keep us posted :)

Very interesting build. I love your floor plan. 2 cents I would add to this is to make sure you have union connectors for all your valves, pumps, heat exchangers, uv, ozone, etc. so that they can be easily remove for maintenance. Also, adding a small drain valve/line to sewer for each of the 4" main drain would make cleaning chore go much easier. Especially if you plan to fill your main drains with vinegar or other cleaning fluids.

amehel0, thanks! I hope to do you proud, but any idiot can put together an equipment list... lets see how it turns out.

Very interesting project. I like the home design except for the distance between the parking area and the kitchen. I am sure you mulled this over, but that will add a lot of traffic to your study.
Pushing traffic to the study was one of the design briefs. My wife works in a profession where she gets an inordinate amount of work related pseudo-junk mail. My hope is this design will encourage us to contain paper work to the study, rather than trapsing it around the house.

Also, my wife and I rarely carry more than a couple of bags of groceries at any one time, so while the distance to the garage is not ideal, it is a compromise we were willing to make for other design imperatives.

RE: the quarantine, I am re-evaluating although I don't think its impossible to adequately sterilize effluent water from a quarantine system, so long as UV is sized appropriately.

I will do this. Thanks.

Very good sugestion. I will do this. RE: unions, I agree.

Thanks all for your contributions.

Yeah, junk mail is a crime IMO. Sounds like a postal box would be a good fix for that!

I disagree on the ability to sterilize QT effluent. From what I understand, UV works on a continuous basis, not on a one-pass basis. I find it very difficult to believe you could do this effectively. Perhaps there is a design out there I haven't seen to make this work though!

nice pool ... oops i mean tank ... can i come over for a swim? awesome plan and i cant wait till its up and running!

Can't find a my cam but found only one that shows the underside of my tank.

Adrian, thats too bizarre! I take it you work for Yttrup's? Your office must have thought me a bit of a freak... I suspect its slightly unusual for Geelong?

Hope you're good at your job :D

Damien, just about to give the go-ahead (tomorrow) on the site clearance. Should have the slab down by Christmas.

Very much fretting over the fall of the aussie dollar.

Yttrup's do the building design work. I do structural design for a company called structural works in Melb. Nearly everybody subcontracts structural engineering out to us. Fairly sure I saw a plan go through that had reinforced footing and foundations for a "heavy load" come through a few days ago. Thought nothing of it at the time!

Dont stress about the AUD. We are more tied to Asia than US and when Asia starts to move again we will follow.

ssswwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttt!!!

following this one...cool to see something different...are you getting an equipment list together???
