2300G Cylinder - Preview

hi Mark, looking good.

i have just ordered 5 of the cardinals from an importer, coming on friday they are nice fish.

and no, i havent been driving around and around Highton looking for your house;)

Looking foward to see the end result of the poryect, knowing the is never a end when it come's to a reef tank.

Diablo, stunning project mate. Have been following this for a while, now. Congrats on breaking the soil! This is gonna be something very, very special!!

Hey Ghengis, unusual to find a Bombers supporter so far north of the border... You've got to be happy with your pick-up of Jake Melksham in the draft?

Things have been frustrating on two counts: unseasonal wet weather and a peg-out mistake by the carpenter that meant that the plumber had to move a lot of the sub-ground plumbing... Never the less, things have progressed. These photos from last weekend (11/21) {For any Aussies following, appologies for transliterating everything into US parlance... I figure its polite given that they are our host}

Here are the vapor an liquid lines of my refrigeration earth loop (3 ton chiller / heater). They go to a below-ground manifold that splits up into 9 x 60' loops.

Power is now connected to site:

The garage is partially framed in this picture:

Plumbing between the garage and the house has been laid. This is the house end. In this picture, there is also a conduit pipe carrying 3/8" air hose to join the surge tank butterfly valves in the house with a compressor in the garage:

Here is the 2 x 3" pipe being carried by the 4" conduit. This pressure pipe is for sump to aquarium:

And here is a level step-down... not how I would have done it myself, but with such large diameter pipe should not impact flow too much.

This week, the garage frame is about 1/2 a day from completion... I expect it to be clad next weekend. Also, all the escavations for house footings have been completed and the slab edges are being formed-up (about 1/2 complete). I expect 2 or 3 more work days before the slab can be poured.:bounce3:

So you're using Goethermal to cool and heat your new house. Smart idea considering the price of everything going up. My brother in law just put up a 10,000sqft house and they have two units.

i thought i was addicted to salt water aquarium but you seriously are ADDICTED, no offense

Checking back in with your thread and things look good! Kinda interesting that you went with a geo loop; I'm building a system that's got about 18 tons of heat/cool using watersource heat pumps. All the potable water is heated in this way as well as heating and cooling for the home. I think there's 5 200' loops that are 100' deep. So far they work great at keeping temps down. However I don't think this area will see 117 temps anytime in the future but the system is on solar power so not much of a loss. I think you'll be happy with the system as you describe it. The only issue I do see is I don't see any spare pipes; what if the worst happens? Do you have a backup plan for plumbing? Did you mention how the aquarium will be lit?

I am curious about your water storage tank that feeds the aquarium... Even given that Melbourne receives it's fair share of rain every year, will you have enough stored water in reserve to sustain this system throughout the dryer months of the year? Or do you plan to supplement mains water?

Btw, we are everywhere! Even a few Geelong fans up here as well. Melksham should go real good, I reckon.... Hopefully we'll go a bit better than last season.

I had to pull my wife into the room to show her what our next home will look like. She knows I'm dreaming but thank you for allowing me to set my sites on something this cool. I love how the tank is in the middle of the house. Good stuff.
