Hey everyone, I have been building my 240 very slowly and it has finally gotten to the point I can start to post some pictures.

Here are some of the build pictures along with some close ups of the corals I have started stocking in the tank.

Also will upload pics of the lighting and such later tonight

I made the tank myself with some help from my buddies.

what silicone did you use to bond the two together? what thickness? i have tons of questions!!

lol
looks good tho buddy!

I was wondering if you left BCS. I'm down there quite frequently as my in-laws are there. A reef friend in Cedar Park made his own tank using the pvc bottom as well. I think his ended up being ~350g.

i have tons of questions too! what tools did you use? how in what order did you put up the panes? how did you stand the panes up?

i think you should start all over and show us your expertise one elementary step at a time :D

Guys I am so sorry, I forgot to subscribe to my own thread and didnt realize I had responses!!!

build went pretty easy

Glass is 1/2 inch and PVC bottom is 1.5" thick

built to mimic an AGE tank Ive had tank up and running with just liverock for a little over a year. I will upload some more pictures I took with my iPhone last week. I need to get some better ones with my real camera.

Im def subscribed to this.

You mentioned what glass and PVC you used, but you never mentioned what adhesives you used.

This looks sweet.

Did you put any bracing in the top?

cool!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow that looks great! I love the PVC bottom, wish i had gone that route.

I'm building a rimless 30x30x24 out of 1/2" glass and was slightly worried it would be too thin, being very close to the safety factor. Looks like you've had no problems, helps put my mind at ease!

Any tips on the construction? Stuff you would have done different when building?

TIA!

Thanks for chiming in on my threadand posting the link for this one . Like others have said whay sillycone did you use, and can you go into more details on the lighting your using im seriously thinking of all t-5 lighting in mine.

I've got 8 - four foot VHO's on my 120g and it is Mega bright!!

I was hesitant to say how I secured it for the longest time... I spoke to some plastic guys and its what they suggested as long as pvc had outer most layer removed which was accomplished by router and inset around edge.
GE57 100% silicone

there is a 4" 3/4" eurobrace around the top of the tank

8 T-5 "VHO" 4 daylight 4 blue plus
4 Uri super actinic VHO's
1 400W 20k XM
