240 Gallon Cube

great info, thanks a million, its gives me some insight on my lighting choice.

i am no expert but seems like the par readings are a little low, are those taken in the middle depth?

with a another reflector i think it will give you more par on the outer edges but will take from the middle?

how high above the tank do you have the 400w light hanging?

I forgot to mention the numbers are taken at the height of the coral the number is below. So the 230 number above the rose anemone is taken from the center of the anemone which is approx 12" below the water surface. The 180 in the center of the tank is taken at the sand bed. The lumenbright reflector is 17-18" off of the water surface. I am using a 400 watt 20K reeflux bulb and a Coralvue dimmable ballast.

I hope this helps

I'm building the identical tank with MH in the center, but I'm also adding 36inch T5 tek light fixtures (4 bulbs each) on either side of the Lumenbright. That would definitely help with your PAR readings.

Great work with your build!

Thanks,

I have been considering adding a couple of T-5's or LED strips to help brighten up the edges.

I decided to add one more tank to my overall system. The new tank is an oceanic 33 gallon cube 20"x18"x23". It is being light by a 250 watt reef optix 3 pendant, Coralvue ballast and 20K bulb. I am in the process of plumbing it to the system. It will have 2-3/4" drain lines and 2-3/4" inputs. Eventually it will house an anemone and clown fish pair.

Here are some pictures

My clown fish in frag tank just laid eggs for the first time. I thought I would share a couple shots and hope to put up some new pictures of the entire system this weekend.

Thanks for the comments,

I am plan on trying to raise a batch in the near future. I am trying to figure out where and how I want to setup my cultures

Here is the latest full tank shot. My tank always seems to be slightly hazy. I tried running filter socks and still cannot get rid of the haze. It can be seen in the picture. Does anyone have an idea why the water is hazy?

Thanks

I had be planning on building screen tops with clear mesh for all my tanks. I finally got around to ordering some and built the screen top for the 240. It turned out pretty good. Definitely better than the egg crate I was using. Here are a couple pictures.

Looks good, love the dimensions! What material did you use for the screen as I'd like to put together something like this for my 240?

Thanks for the comments. I re-adjusted the rock work and moved a tunze to help with the flow.

I love having the 48" inches front to back. It allows you to do so much with the rock work.

Once the tanks clears up I will post some new pictures

It is a clear industrial netting that I bought directly from the manufacturer. I have a bunch left over for sale if you want some. If interested send me a pm with how much you are looking for.

Thanks
