240 Gallon Cube

I picked up two new corals last week. I got a very large hammer around the size of a volleyball and a large purple acro.

Here are some pictures.

Here is a new full tank shot as well.

very good set up...but your lemonpeel is skinny...

I assume you are talking about my orange shoulder tang as I do not have a lemon peel. I have been feeding at least three times a day to try and fatten it back up. I was out of town for close to a month during the middle of the summer and that's when it lost its weight. I am seeing signs of improvement which is good.

Awsome set up...

My next tank will definitelly be a 48x48x24 cube...

I made it almost a year later, will probably have water by november o december.

How many lbs of live rock do you have there? I want to take a minimalistic approach and don't know if I should go with 50 or 100 lbs of Marco DRY rocks...

Congrats on the new tank. I am following your build as well.

I am guessing there is at least 100 lbs of rock in there probably closer to 150lbs. There are a couple of very large pieces that make up the left side of the aquascaping. I guess they weigh 20-30 pounds each. I never weighed the rock as I added it. I moved it out of a couple of other tanks I had running.

The Marco dry rocks are nice. I think 50 lbs would be too little. You may want to start with 75-100 and see where you end up. The 4'x4' footprint is a lot of space to fill up.

How far away from the water level do you have your pendant? I got about 22" to the ceiling from the water level and I was thinking of putting the pendant flush with the ceiling and use a 400 watt radium...

Very nice! Im putting together a 150 48x24x30 and was planning a 400w lumenarc mini with Radium

Thanks, That light should work but you may want to go with their large version of the reflector to get more light spread.

I am 18" off of the water surface. I was 16" when I first started but I pulled it up a little more to get a little more spread.

What reflector are you planning on using?

Thanks, I am still only running the single 400 watt on my tank. I did reposition the light toward the rear of the tank by 3 or 4 inches. The way the reflector spreads the light, any coral on the top of the rear rock work was getting minimal light. By moving it back, there is much more light in that area and since the rock work is low toward the front, I did not loose much up front.
