About 3 or 4 weeks ago I started my newest upgrade, A 240 gallon that I am building into a wall. Originally I wanted to build it in a different room in the house so I could build a fish room around it but wasn't even able to fit the stand in that room so I decided to do the next best thing, build a large stand with plenty of room all around the tank for access. Now because this build was started about a month ago there are lots of pics already. So here comes a ton of pics at once. Please feel free to critique me on anything you see could be done better. I hope you plan on replacing that broken brace at the top end. Also, your photos seem to indicate the tank is right up against the back wall and window. Is that correct?

I did add a sheet of acrylic on top and below that broken brace. I'll take a picture when I get home from work. Yes it is against a window in the back of the house. Is that a problem?
 
The window could be an unwanted source of heat depending on orientation. Also, if any light spills into the aquarium from the windows it will influence which types of algae grow, or grow better, in the aquarium. This may or may not be what you had intended.

Thanks for the information. Maybe I will seal up the windows and install a vent with a fan so I can block the light and still get some temperature control.
 
Looks pretty awesome. Can't wait to see it filled with fish and corals. What part of California are you from?
 
I'm still a few weeks away from adding much livestock. I lost a lot of coral in my last upgrade because I went to fast so I'm taking it really slow. However I've started adding some rock that's been curing in a couple brute trash cans. I'm from southern Ca. About 45 minutes from Huntington beach

I have been having the usual diatom problems with a new tank but I just got a new 150 gallon a day rodi unit to replace my old one and im hoping that will help. Here is a short Iphone video of the tank. Corals are nice and open and all fish are doing great.

Tank is looking good. So you are from So.Cal. Nice, you guys have many LFS to choose from down there. Every time I head down there I try to check them out. I bought some corals from The Reef Hot Spot in Inglewood CA. That place was huge.
 
Thanks! Yes we are lucky to have a lot of reef focused LFS. You should come down next time reefapalooza is going on. It's an awesome event with great deals and frags galore.
