240g anemone cube build thread...

LMAO!! I know what you mean man. I messed with my last sps frag the other day and i guess I killed part of it from touching the poylps, which is understandable, but then it continued dying in a wave like manner, all the way to the tip. So now I think I'm just going to give up on the sps for my future mag tank, which by the way I am setting up next month. I may start a similar thread to show my progress also. Nice zoo's!

Nothing different. Cept my mind leaning towards gigantea's more than mag's. If that happens it means rock rearranging time again lol.

Got my lights hung today, it took me about 3 hours by my self to get three lights done. What i did was do two de 400w on either side over the opening's, and a de 250 over the center brace.
I may replace the de 250 w/another 400 in a bit but i am waiting on the ballast for the second 400 before i add a third. Pictures will come tommorow.
All three of these lights will be 20k, but currently the 250 is 10k because that is what i had in there and didnt feel like driving to pfo to get bulbs.

Do you have any supplementary lighting?

No, thats why i generally use 20k lights.
I may try to rig up some moon lights for it though.

oh ok. Will it work just as fine that way? I'm trying to decide whether to go with supplementary lights or not. I'm thinking two 400w 20k and 1 250w 10k. But tell me how it works for you before I can commit to it. haha

Really it depends, doing it this way, when the halides shut off, thats its. No blue lighting to end or begin the day.
When i do it i have my lights cycle off so the left goes off first, then the middle, then the end. Light the sun.
Again, this is really the only option i had with hanging lights, i can't really hang actinic's.
I don't mind it. But on the 72 im setting up, i am doing two 400w se bulbs, 20k radiums. With i believe 4 t-5's for actinics, that are only going to come on before the halides come on for about an hour, then they will shut off when the halides come on, and come on again 10 min. before the halides shut off for another hour.
This way my t-5's will last me a long time and i still get the blue actinic lights before and after....
i hope that made sense. If you have any other questions, ask.

hmm interesting idea. It may be difficult to hang actinces, but its defenitly possible. What I did for my set up right now is I have a 150 w 10k pendant and retrofit T5 actins hanging next to it. I got two boards and drilled the endcaps in and connected the bulb inbetween them. Then I would just have to get 4 cables and hang it in the ceiling with the halides. But since my tank is so small I just built a frame that went over the tank and hung the MH from there and connected the T5's to the legs.
