240g CUBE 48x48x24 3/4" Acrylic 300g+ Build in the Desert

Here are pictures from Today...

Havent added a coral since las year probably... Last fish addition was a fox face a couple of months ago.

What is at growing on your sand in the front left corner of the tank. It's massive! :D

Corey

They are Green Star Polyps

No, I believe he switched back to a single halide fixture

Im running a single 250 Hamilton pendant with a 20k Radium and T5 (ATI blue plus and purple plus) to supplement

I will eventually remove the GSP from the acrylic, Ive been just to lazy to do it

I love how at GSP is growing. Like I said I don't think I've seen it growing on sand like that before! Very cool.

How high do you have the Cozumel Reflector from the water surface? I have a 36x36x24 cube and decide to go with the Cozumel and 250watt Radium as well. But, I'm a little disappointed with the Par numbers. I'm at about 50-70 on the sandbed. I want to do mainly LPS, but still some SPS. And I'm wondering if I need to go with the 400 watt version or supplement with either T5s or some reefbrites. Great tank!

Just the right amount of fish and colors. The coral and fish seem to compliment each other. Very nice!

Im growing LPS and softies almost on the sandbed, got the bottom of the cozumel reflector 11" above the water line, Im supplementing it with 4 T5s (2 ATI Blue plus and 2 ATI Purple plus).

I have my lumatek ballast set at HQI which I believe is around 270 watts

Heres an update pic with nice colors

Even better. How did you keep all the tangs from fighting?
I never have any luck with keeping a school of yellow's.
They all must be aqua cultured, is my first guess?

Thanks KMU. I have the same light set up (same bulb, ballast and reflector minus the T5s. I think I'm going to have to either go with a 400 watt bulb or add 3-6 T5s around the reflector or add some reefbrite strips. I'm on the fence on what to do since my tank is rimless and I don't have a canopy. I would have to figure out a way to attach the T5s or reefbrites to the reflector.

Did you went back to mh instead leds?

Yes, my corals and my eyes didn't like the AI Sol Blues, tried them for more than a year. I was missing the red, green, and uv leds that gives the complete spectrum to my eye VS the T5s + MH.

Go with the reef bright LEDs or some DIY led bars with Royal blues. I went with T5s because I go a very good deal on the 2 T5 retros... If I where to do it again I would do on each side of the MH about 10 Royal Blues, 4 UVs, 1 Red, 1 Green and 2 Cool Whites for Dawn and dusk and to supplement the MH.
