Hi everyone, thought I'd post some pics of my tank. Like the title says, it's 240gal (though not a true cube) 48x48x24 and is built into the wall in our basement. I'm going to cut to the chase and post a pic of how it looks completed and fill in as we go, hope you like!

Pic is about a year old and the tank is over exposed, more pics to follow.

very nice..A few more detail pictures would be great.

Thanks CC, here's some more pics. Excuse my photography skills.

This is the CAD model I did to help me jam 5 lbs. of *%$# in a 3 lb. bag, it'll give a good perspective of the basic layout of the room.

This is a shot of the lighting rig, three PFO mini's with 250w Pheonix 14k DE bulbs fired by IceCap E-Ballasts.

Close-up of the PVC rack, the rails slide side to side, the shower curtain clips slide front to back and the chains are adjustable up and down giving me full adjustability.

This is the ballast board, the thing to the right is an IceCap multi speed fan mounted on a DIY aluminum arm.

Ok, back to the equipment side of things (sorry if I'm jumping around, I wasn't sure where to start with this :p ).

This is the sink area. It is soooo nice to have a sink near the tank, now my wife doesn't give me a hard time about cleaning "that nasty protein skim thing". You can see the Cap-Air1 controller on the wall that will turn on a 290cfm exhaust fan if the room temp or humidity go too high. The fan is a Panasonic and is visable in one of he earlier pics.

This is a shot of the sump and fuge. Since this pic was taken a frag rack and some rock/ chaeto has been added to the fuge.

This is a little better shot of the support equipment. To the left behind the 2x4 is an AquaC EV-240 skimmer. The units on the shelf are both recycled Berlin skimmers, the one on the left is now a kalk reactor and on the right is the calcium reactor. The calcium reactor is filled with ARM media and the effluent runs through a secondary chamber (the tapwater purifier housing next to the skimmer) loaded with ARM media.

That's a really nice tank.

Wish I had a house big enough to dedicate a whole room just for my tank, heck, I wish I could by a house and dedicate it to a whole reef system!

Yuridelima- I do like having the system in it's own room, even though it's a small room (6'x9'), kinda keeps me from getting too carried away.

Yes! Beautiful tank! I also envy the 'tank room' what a wonderful way to keep it all together (and under control)...

Rue and tanya72806, Thank you... :)

Black71GP....you better be nice to your frag sitter!....LOL...good to hear from ya' neighbor. You'll need to start a thread here pretty soon so these folks can see your little "project" . ;)

true true.. when things get better for sure untill then I will just have to keep looking at your nice set up!1

Nice tank.... I see that you have a projector in that room... I'm planning on doing the same, any tips on combating light spill from the tank. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks shouldabenacwboy.

Most of the time we just accept it for PS2 and general TV watching but I do have a piece of thick black fabric that I put up on that side of the tank for movies. The tank is a distraction for me during movies and I hate to cover it, but the increase in contrast is worth it I guess. Will you have any windows to deal with for your theater area? Or just the tank?

Nice job... I like that you stuck to your budget along the way and your water change system is pretty nifty too. :)
