Just read the entire thread. Very nice and well planned out build. I saw a thread here on RC last year where someone did a similar thing. His tank was in the house but he build a large "cupboard" in the garage to house all the equipment. I believe that he was in Phoenix.

Thank you!
I actually have a buddy that did something similar to what you're describing. You think you can dig up the thread?

is that an octopus skimmer?

Marine Solutions MSX300...Basically the same as an Octo at 2/3 the price!:D

I replaced the tubing they provided for the collection cup drain with something more sturdy other than that I love it!

Weekend pics

Here are some pics of stuff I got done this weekend:

Decided to put this in to control the temp and humidity in the garage:

Thermostat on the fan is set to 90degrees in the garage and it keeps it there with 25% humidity.

My ro/di supply....From the valves there is a 3/8" to 1/4" reducer:

The good water travels up over the garage door over to the tank room side of the garage to my water storage location:

The drain for the ro/di plumbed into the drain of the water softener:

Wow, I can't believe how fast you are moving through this project! And on top of that you are doing it right the first time. It is really going to be one stunning setup when it is done! I need a bigger house lol. Great work you should be proud!

Thank you for the compliment I could not have done it without the help of fellow reefers like yourself. :)

BTW you don't have to get a bigger house we can build an addition!:D

Got my 35g water drums cleaned up and ready to go...gonna try to drill them to install bulkheads, unless I come up with a better idea. I'll have to cut open the top of one for mixing salt because the opening for the lid is just too darn small. I will connect my RO/DI line to a float switch that will shut it off when it's full of RO. From here I'd like to plumb it to the second container that I'll be using for top off which will feed the tank via an aqualifter and JBJ ato using the two sensor config. This way one sensor is placed higher another one lower if the first sensor doesn't kick off the pump for some reason the second one is there as a failsafe so my return chamber doesn't run dry.

I'd like to plumb the third plastic drum which will be placed inside the access room to the first RO reservoir so I can pump water to it, mix my salt, perform my water change then set it outside the room because I like having that space off to the side. Shhh that's the hideout from the wife:lol:

Need to figure this out ASAP. Also what do you guys recommend for the order in which I add sand, rock, water....?????

Most people recommend rock, then sand (to make sure the rock is touching the bottom glass and can't be knocked over by critters), then water. Can't wait to see pics with all of those added!!

I do some water (so not to overflow)Then rock, then sand. Its easier to stack the rocks in water then to dry stack and if anything falls the water wont let it fall as fast as it would dry.
