240g RR build thread

good help from the old wise man capncapo helped quiet er down, did you guys get it any better lonnie or are you gonna try the one inch holes and see if that works. were are the pics there were plenty taken, but then there was alot of chaos of people chasing each other around rich, scarecrow, and stupid but the crazy a$$e$ got it filled and man did it fill up quick good flow in that tank. Lots a fun on that fresh water test.

I used T's in the over flow (bulkheads) Turned the T were it pulls water from the bottom, and capped the top off with a hole to make sure it does not start a siphon. I think once we get the skimmer hooked into the drains I think that extra flow will also help quiet it down some. I almost wish we had all 4 - 2" holes used for drains VS sending the 4th drain to the skimmer.

The Good thing is there were no micro bubbles.

Stupid got his new job and starts today. So he will not be on here as much so picture may have to wait till Saturday.

Thank you for informing everyone of the progress Lonnie. As sorry as this is sometime's you slip from the top of the mountain. It saddens me to say such but that's what's happened to me. I'm afraid that this tank will not be up to 100% anytime soon :( (Hopefully not a Nook & Griss kind of thing but who knows). I was let go from my job (which was a good thing any many many ways) and was forced to go to a much better place of employment. However I'm no longer at the top, Instead I'm lower than whale's poo now  . I've taken a $3.00 per hour pay cut in order to gain $2.50 more, and stuck on second shift for what will be quite awhile. But as I said, it is a good thing and I'm happier than ever ( and broker than ever  ). I'm NOT getting out of the hobby, just slowing down alot and I WILL get this system up and running at some point.

To answer a few quick questions: I was a NON Union Truck driver & finally push, fought, clawed, scratched, and bit my way through the door's of the BEST Union trucking company out there. However I will not have medical insurance for myself or my family for about 5 months or so. Which means any extra cash will go to providing this for them instead of this hobby. My tank will be set up with what I have as of right now, so it will look rather bare for a while. I'll try and post pics when I have the time.

Thanks again Stupid.

I've been wondering if you ever got this tank going so, I dug this thread up to see what I've missed, and I really did miss something big. Sorry to hear about the change in circumstances there. I'm glad that you can see some good in it though. No insurance sucks though, better take your vitamins and stay healthy in the mean time. I know the tank may not turn out to be what you want in the short term, but we would still like to see your progress if there is any. I wish you the best of luck with the new job.

Ok, sorry it's taking so long, but here's some pics of the progress. (As of today the tank is up and running and stocked with what I have, pics will follow in a few day's)

Ok I wired up the canopy but didn't take pics of it as I went. I was doing it by my self and just became lost in the work and forgot to stop and take a few pics. But it is set up and running all but 1 bulb which never worked right from day one and now won't work at all. I've got a few pics of the skimmer making sluge or thick concert like mud!!!! This thing kicks major ba-donkey-donk!! Maybe in a week or to I'll have an invite for those who want to see it up and running. Marrk96 I need to speak with.

Awesome size for a tank...I really like the dimensions of it. Time to get is stocked and lit.

looks great. I love the beer can on the corner of the tank. don't let that baby fall in there. a project is just not the same without a little liquid engineering

It's about time you get your priorities straight. Letting work get in the way of getting your tank up....;)
So glad to see it up and running, it looks great, I can't wait to see it.

mpcart, It will be awhile before it is fully stock up, it's a lot of tank to stock

Jack it is lit, pics are coming tonite. It has 8 of the 80w 60 inch T5's on it. But only 5 are working as of now. 1 bulb is bad and the icecap ballast won't fire unless all 3 bulb's are working. ( They are wired up as follows: 3 bulbs per each of the 660 ballast which I have two of, and 2 bulbs on the 430 ballast which I have one of).

saltyshoe_nano, I have some things in mind but of as now I have to research and then research some more, But I hope lots of stuff :D

Rena, you are so right my dear.....What was I thinking

Here is the newest pics from yesterday when I moved the 90g into the 225.
