240Gal Reef of its own kind

I agree with many of the above posts about your stand. Even though I am a novice satlwater person, I am a bit more knowledgable in building. You definetly need that horizontal beam on the bottom. Also, you are going to be putting 3000 lbs, using nice numbers, on this stand (Probably at a minimum). Figuring saltwater weighs 10lbs a gallon (once again just using nice easy numbers. So saltwater at 2400 lbs+tank at 550 lbs is basically 3000lbs. Plus all the live rock and other stuff. I would say more is better. I would also like to see a picture underneath the stand, to see what is exactly holding the main weight of the tank in the middle. I am unsure if this message is to late. It most likely is, but I thought I would try anway.

thanks for the post, those pics are old, i redid the whole thing the correct way.

How are you liking all the Genesis systems?

i love my genesis system. auto water changes, auto refilling of ro/di bin. auto top off in sump. multi sensors fail proof system.
all i have to do is mix salt to my 55 gal drum at 1.025. rest is all handled by Genesis.

this is what the tank looks like today.

How did the fridge feeder system turn out? I would love to know how you put it all together

are you feeding bud light too? because thst would be funny to see a drunk fish.

lol no drunk fish... budweiser gave me that fridge so i put it to best use possible.
I made it into a auto feeder.
Fridge system is great. i mainly use it for vacations but do run it twice everyday for testing and errors.
it comes on everyday at 2am and dose phyto in the tank
and everyday at 4pm for artic pods for the fish.

i will post more details with pics.

Note: i am runing Apex and RKE side by side for another thread to see which units is better.

At a set time a small pump comes on and return pump shuts down. small pump pushes tank water through the clear pvc pipe and back to the tank. While the water is flowing Bubble Magus tripple doser programmed to dose pods or phyto comes on sucking it up from the bottles and dosing it into the water flow.
Frozen food like small size mysis, brine shrimp, arctipods, triggerpods have been tried with no problems.

a little update. i had trouble keeping corals even with pristine water quality and state of the art filteration. after many testes and sending water to labs across USA i came to found out that the rock i purchased and custom ordered in shape and size was a man made rock and nor reef rock. so its leeching something... if the corals are on the sand and away from the rock they seem to live not thrive but just live. same coral placed on rock will die within few days...
anyways i decided to re-do the setup with pukani dry live rock from BRS. but while i do that i decided to setup 2 qt tanks (1 already setup) and extend my cabinet/shelfing out.
here are few pics with updates as they come along.
