I just gave it a go on my first batch of homemade fish food. I think it went pretty well. The ingredients I used were:
I package mysis shrimp
1/2 package brine shrimp
3 sheets of nori
1/2 cup formula 2 pellets
1 clove of garlic
1/2 cup phytoplankton (all I had left)
2 ounces whole silverfish
10 ounces assorted frozen seafood (contained squid, mussel, clam, shrimp)
Fish eggs
1/2 package of nutrimar ova
4 teaspoons of spirulina powder
I added all but the spirulina powder, fish eggs, pellets, and nutrimar to the blender and mixed all up. I then added the fish eggs, pellets, spirulina, and nutrimar and mixed those in by hand.
It came out pretty well. My only concerns are that I added too much nori (the food is pretty green) and I'm nervous it might have been mixed too fine, but it does seems to have a good consistency and to be chunky enough for the size fish that will be in my 30 cube (smaller fish=smaller mouths).
I cut 6 12x6 cube strips of egg crate. I know most people just freeze it in a bag but I liked the idea of being able to just pop out a cube. There is a sheet of wax paper between each piece of egg crate to prevent it from all freezing into a giant glob.
