250G Tank Failure Update - More Bad News - There is a Thief out There

ummmmm ya right it was stolen out of their display and no one saw a thing.....are you sure it wasnt just an honest mistake and it was sold ....

nope not sold.... and for sold for what? A 50 polyp colony... I'm F@Q('en ****ed to be honest. Someone stole it for sure.

This tank failure has been a nightmare....

I appreciate all the well wishes from everyone.

If that was my store, and you were doubting me. I would ask you to remove all your coral. I don't blame you, as I don't trust anyone. If its a place you felt comfortable leaving your stuff, than you shouldn't be questioning their integrity. If you are I wouldn't have left anything

just my .02 good luck

How could they have taken it without being seen? Stick it under their shirt? I don't really see how they could do that. I would think they would need a bucket or a big bag. They are also always in the room with you, even in the back part. Was that the only thing stolen? I also think something is not quite right.

If your coral was truly stolen, I would assume it was the first time a coral was stolen from their shop, which would be too much of a coincidence. If corals were stolen before, then you would think precautions would've been made to prevent it from happening again.

Something doesn't sound right, and I like dragon's idea of having someone try to buy one of your corals, but they may figure they're already ahead and may look shady if another coral was "stolen" or they could see this thread.

It is very likely that they (store owner(s), employees, friends of the business) frequent RC so Dragon's idea now became ineffective.

You'd be surprised. Anyone carrying a drink cup, especially a Big Gulp, wearing sweat jackets, loose baggy clothing, etc. are all suspects for such nonsense. All too often, it's a regular that turns out to be the frequent shop lifter...made easier because as a regular the employees are more likely not to be watching closely.

Smells, umm, "fishy" to me. I'm thinking inside job.

Also not unusual for an employee or two to turn out to be unscrupulous...

I have to say this would not be the first time corals get stolen. Maybe a year ago corals kept going missing from coral kingdom in pines. Victor owns the shop and his dad helps him run it. So no employee to blame. He ended up installing video surveillance systems and it has stopped this problem.

I doubt that colony will ever surface again. Its either tucked away in someones display or cut up into frags to maximize $$$. Crazy world we live in !!
I have a large colony of cinnamon polyps that started with 2 heads a few years ago.
When you get your tank up again I'd be happy to give you a few polyps to get your colony going again. Sorry that happened to you.

how bad is the service at this LFS? i get poor service sometimes and seem invisible to the employees, but i would never be able to walk out the door with corals and a wet arm!!!
