Is 250mh enough for a 35g tank(18" deep, but with a 4" to 5" sandbed)

I'm looking into maximas......I think I'll do 3 to 4 clams, since I'm making the tank very open

Should be enough light. I have a t. maximas on the sand bed under 250watt MH in a 180 gal tank. It's doing well and growing nicely.

Should be just fine.....I have 5 maximas and squamosas under a 150w HQI 10k....it's a significantly smaller tank....so may not apply but our heights are roughly the same....

They love it.

I wouldn't worry....you have a good amount of light for them...

i also had a question....is 175 MH light enough for clams in my 40 gallon thats 1 1/2 feet deep considering that i also have to place the light 10 inches about the water for heating rpoblems? ANd would i be able to keep others like sps and some lps and such?

I have a 175w mh over my 20g, I keep sps in the top 6", I haven't really tried lower, except like for montipora and stuff, but with my tank I can basically keep any coral or clam with the right placement. I think my tank is 16" or 18" deep, I can't remember. Whatever is standard for a 20. Oh, also, my lights are 9" from the surface.

Sure, if should be ok. I don't use actinic, just an ushio 10,000k, I want to add 2x36w actinics sometime though. The corals are just fine as of now though.
