Hi all,
Just wanted to post some pics of the new build share the system and get some helpful feed back. Largest tank before was a 150. So here it goes. Bought 2 over 10 years old established reef tanks as well as some goodies out of my 150. Tank is a 270 gallon Acrylic 8' long x 24" wide x 30" deep with dual 30 gallon sumps. All tied in with 150 gallon and 150 gallon sump for a total of 630 gallons well not quite but between 550 and 600 gallons. 270 is running on a 4300 gph internal pump I have had for a few years now. Checked the flow at my head pressure and was pumping about 3700 gph. Running 3 Koraila 4 power heads. BRS carbon and phosphate reactors. Euro reef and Reef Octopus skimmers. Lifegard UV Sterilizer. Doseing 2 little fishies part a and b twice a week. I would say have 400+ lbs on live rock in 270 as well as 240 lbs of Fiji pink live sand. The lighting. Had a bit of a dilemma here with the tank being 8' long it only had 2 cutouts for halides, so I went with 5 vho's (3 white actinic and 2 sunlight) and 2 250 watt 12000k metal halides.
Livestock consists of
2 large 10 year old clowns
2 juvenile clowns
5 yellow tail damsels
2 black and white striped damsels
2 Black and white spotted damsels
2 Scotter Blennies
2 orange spotted blennies
2 yellow striped bleenies
1 purple dottyback
1 matted filefish
150 gallon reef cleaner package from reefcleaners.org
5 peppermint shrimp
1 bristle starfish
1 sea cucumber
1 feather duster worm
condey anemone
bubbletip anemone
Large colony of zoa's
Large colonies of purple mushrooms (spreading like crazy)
Frogspawn
I think that's it but I am sure I have forgotten something. System parameters have been holding steady for well over a month.
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 0
phosphates 0
ph 8.2
calcium 480-500
dkh 10
Temp 80 degrees (no chiller)
Thanks for looking everyone and here are some pic's. Thanks for the feedback.
