Hello Everyone,

I am building an 2700 + indoor reef lagoon. It will start on an upper 2" raised floor and waterfall into the lower tank on the regular floor. I really need help! Should I use cinder block or plywood ? Can I do it without top bracing? I have attached a sketch. I would appreciate your help.

Thanks
Megan

It's not an easy/simple process, but in answer to your question, I would look at plywood. You should take a look in the DIY forum and read up on some of the plywood tank build threads. There's lots of good, detailed info in there.

i tried to open your drawing and cant. can you re post it in a different format os it can be opened. there is many complications to a 2 story reef such as this. first thing that comes to mind is the bubbles. you will never be able to see inside thetank with out some sort of bubble trap to remove the bubbles from the water before it enters the lower tank. this wil be the biggest problem. the second thing is the design of the 2 tanks. the uper tank is easy to build. its the lower tank that will be harder to build. how far down will the lower tank be from the upper tank? how much water will the uper tank hold and how much will the lower tank hold? where will the viewing pannels be for people to view the tank from. how deep will these tanks be? anythng can be built as long as you have the ambition and ability to design and build them. this idea is a very interesting idea and i would love to hear more about it. nothing is impossable.

Why not just make one taller then the other? why do you have to raise the floor two inches?
