You have 9 fish in a 28? That's a LOT! You should probably try trading some more for corals.

The brown bloom is normal, your CUC will take care of it, just make sure your water parms are in check and it'll go away.

+1 - that is a HUGE bioload in a nano. Make sure you have GREAT skimmer and do lots of water changes. Chances are REALLY good that scrubbing your rock won't change much

I will be posting pictures soon. No fish in the tank, just a pistol and cleaner shrimp along with some coral. I am going to rethink my fish list, gonna cut it back to 3-4. Trying to decide what i want.

Sorry about the pics, my computer died on my a couple weeks ago so I can only update rarely for the time being. I promise the pics are coming. The tank is doing great and the coral are showing some growth already. I am trying to take it slow, I tend to rush things and I do not want to do that with this tank.

I have noticed that at night when i turn off the light, there is this white/transparent web of stuff that rises up from my LR. Any ideas as to what this is??

Do a search on digitate hydroids and see if that is what you have. I have quite a few of them in my tank and they don't seem to be doing any harm. There are a lot of varying opinions on them though. They look like a single strand of hair with small barbs and a tip. I asked my local LFS owner and he said not to worry. They do really come out and extend when the lights go off.

So I had a problem last week. I picked up an anemone for my clowns. i have had a problem with the light in my tank. For almost the past two months I have been in contact with jbj and they have been sending me new balasts, hoods, and fans. My light kept turning on and off through out the day. Finally they told me to take the balast out from the cabinet because it was getting too hot. Even though I suggested doing this the second time I called and was told this was not the problem. I will say though jbj was more than cooperative and vigilant in making sure that the problem was fixed. Anyways, the anemone did not survive durring the time that the light was out. It dissapeard and all of a sudden the tank took a turn for the worse. I was warned about this when I got the anemone that if they die, they can become toxic to the tank. I have done multiple water changes, about 3-4 gallons each time. Last night I let the girl friend take everything out of the tank and scrube it down good. We re-aranged the rock and I am pretty happy with how it came out. Anyways here is a couple pictures. Sorry for the poor quality, I am going to try to borrow a friends digital camera to get some quality pics up. Right now I have two Clowns and a Green Mandarin. I have a pistol shrimp who is constanly moving the sand, every morning the sand bed looks completely different than the day before. As far as coral, I have a frogspawn, pom poms, starburst polyps, brown mushroom, eagles eyes, and a kenya tree.

so I picked up a few snails the other day at lovely pets along with a emerald crab. I caught my pistol shrimp attacking the crab last night. I'm gonna keep an eye on the tank to make sure he leaves the new guy alone. We are moving in a few weeks and I am not looking forward to it. Any suggestions on how to make the move of the tank easier??

A bunch of 5gal buckets with lids. Fish in 1 with a battery powered airator. Corals in another with the same. Rocks and water in the rest. Leave the sand in the display.

Probably be OK without the air if the move will be short (<1hr)

So the move went well, but now the light is turning on and off through out the day again. When this happened last time as I stated earlier, jbj was great by sending me replacement ballasts, hoods, fans, but no luck. Any suggestions?

I have the same tank and its very sensitive to heat. If I put a towel across the top of the hood mine will shut down in seconds. I would check for dust blocking the cooling fans or a problem with the fans not running.

Thanks. I am going to go to home depot to get something to hold the hood about a half inch above the tank and take the hood off of the clips in the back to let some air circulate.

Is your ballast in a good spot? sitting on carpet possibly? Anything to hold heat? I had the same problem and it turned out my ballast was just getting too hot kickin out my main lights.

JBJ replaced the hood last week and I got my coral order yesterday. I will be posting pics later todady. Here is the coral I got.
