280gal Flow help needed! Tunze's or OM??

I just set up an 8 way on my 300gal 96 x 30 x 24 I am using the dart pump. The plumbing does take up a lot of room under the tank so if you want to have a sump underneath your stand it will be tight.

I don't have it running because some of the outlets are pointed at the sand and when the dart is on you get a sand storm. This is why I need the omni flex outlets.

This is the 8 way with union ball vales.Don't kid yourself if you think this is a cheaper alternative to tunze pumps. With the dart plumbing parts and the 8 way it will still cost you a good $1300.This is if you do it yourself. If the tank is glass buy some drill bits(hole saw) from E-Bay http://www.thk.hk is where i got mine

do you have some new magic VorTech that doesn't heat the tank? every one I've seen heated the glass and the tank so your comment on heat is mute. the Tunze adds No More heat then a VorTech but they have the versatility to be positioned and pointed...

glad you like your tunzes but your not very astute. how can a product with one side of it along a pane of glass create the same heat as a product immersed totally in water? The little bit of heat against the glass is not going to raise the temp of the tank, the propeller inside the tank will but significantly less than the tunzes - hands down. I traded the so-called versatility to position with significant less intrusion of space and eye appeal than having somthing hanging into my tank. Tunzes are great products and glad your happy.

unless you've got double pane insulated glass on your tank the heat from the outside unit is transfered into the tank, it's not rocket science, it's thermodynamics.

YOu got a heck of alot more room under your tank than mine. I have a 75gal now with a 8way and a dart powering it. Its a tight fit. On my new tank ill have a 8x10' room to play with so ill have plenty of room.

I think im goign to use my one 8way and dart from my 75gal on the new tank and two or three tunze stream pumps and a wave maker. I was goign to do two 8 ways but the tunze might be cheaper in the long run and less stuff to leak? Still undecided tho.

assuming you ever took that class, I suggest you take it over. its not the same heat transfer. there is heat transferred but not at the same rate. so with a little magic dust maybe you'll disappear. LOL. so what who cares, think whatever you want.

dont be leaving those cinder blocks in there. they will leach into your system.

Jet Cat that was funny.I have spoken to someone who had the vortech. He said if they are not 100% aligned they create a lot of heat.He said more than a tunze pump(he has both). He didn't like the vortech. He said not worth the money.I have never tried them.I did think of getting one but I would rather get a wave box.I will see the flow from my 8 way.
