29 Bio Cube Filter

Just set up my 29 Bio Cube and am having some issues with the filtration. It has 3 chambers. First one has intakes from the tank at the top and in the middle. It flows through a replaceable filter then falls into a filter that drips down over rubble (was Bio Balls). It then goes through a sponge at the bottom into a chamber with a pump at the bottom. This pump send the water back into the tank.

Ok, that explained, I am having troubles with the water level in the pump area. It is supposed to maintain a level sufficient so the pump doesnt burn up I am sure. The problem is that either the pump is pumping the water back into the tank to quickly or the water is not getting through the system to the pump fast enough.

As far as I can tell there is no adjustment on the pump to control flow. Has anyone had this issue or know of an adjustment I am not seeing or finding in the instructions.

Thanks

That worked nicely. It also evened out the flow of water on the drip tray to distribute the water better over the live rubble.

You dont want a drip tray(wet/dry) I dont think, but I dont have a biocube. Maybe ask some people who do, and make a refugiam out of the middle chamber.

How do you make a refugiam out of the middle chamber? I hear this talked about all the time, but don't really understand what a refugiam intails.....

I left the tray in based upon suggestions from some locals and from a good friend that has a freshwater fish store and dabbles in saltwater reefs. I was advised to put live rubble in the center chamber instead of bio balls and leave the drip tray in to distribute the water over the rock.

Not sure if that is normal but its the way its currently setup.
