I'm possibly going to purchase a bio cube 29 gallon and was just wondering what people suggested on upgrading these? I want to keep the hood to keep the simplicity but am willing to upgrade the contents of the hood. Also wondering the best way to do the filtration in the back. Should I do a skimmer? Thank you for all your suggestions.

Hi, I have a biocube 14, I went with Steve's led retro kit, and a intank media basket. I'm happy with both. As for skimmer I boutique the coral life one and it wasn't worth the headache, I just do water changes

I use an Aquaticlife 115 skimmer in chamber 1 as chamber 1 has a consistent non fluctuating water level. I use an InTank media basket running floss, Purigen and a media bag with 3 tbs carbon and 1 tbs GFO changed out every two weeks. I also run an InTank fuge basket in chamber 2 with chaeto. Chamber 3 houses my return pump upgraded to a Cobalt mj1200 pump, my heater, a Cobalt NeoTherm 100w and my ATO sensor. As far as lights go, I run a Nanobox large retrofit in the stock hood. The RapidLED biocube retrofit kits are excellent LED upgrades as well. Check out my build thread in my signature below. Hope this helps.

Use some egg crate to support the 115 skimmer....the suction cups aren't the best but work fine with a little support.
