Ahh nice, i hear they make good topoffs. Since i have the floatswitch, tubing and pump, i figure i'll just make my own.

Ok got enough together to put er up for a test run. Heres some more pics. I should have the pendant early next week :)

Seems to be working well. I'm concerned that the flow isn't going to be enough. I might have to add a close loop with my other pump.

So just outta couriousity...why didnt you just use plexi glass instead of real glass? Wouldnt it have been easier and less $$? And.. any plans for a fuge? Looks good. Keep the pix comming.

The acrylic would not bond to the glass and hold for good. Glass and silicon bond at the molecular level, silicon doesn't bond well to acrylic.

I do have a ~5 gal tank i will use for a fuge, i will have the slower of the 2 drains drain into that, and the fuge will drain into the sump.

Looking good Mike. Mine has been running on my porch for 4 days now no problem. I don't think the flow will be enough for me though, i'm gonna work on a closed loop with a GenX 2400 pump i have. My pendant should be here tomorrow and i got the stand all done. Should work on getting it in place later this week!!

Got my fixture today. Nice fixture but missing the ballast and the legs. Plus sent me a 10K bulb when I ordered 20K.... :eek2: :eek1:

Doh! That sucks, my pendant shell got here today. I'm so stoked. Gonna install the reflector in it tonight and get some pics up.

Looks nice, one thing to consider...

The sump you made is nice and all, but you should have the wider portion of the bubble trap nearest the intake so more bubbles can gas off due to the slover velocity.

So you think I should put the pump on the other side of the sump and drain into the smaller side? Thanks for the info!! Since this is just a test run i'm not too concerned, the plumbing isn't even glued yet. I'll be sure to try if the way you said when i get it all up and running.

Going to drain the tank tonight and bring it back inside. I need to move my 55 gal over about 5 feet to make room for this tank, so i'll try to do that tonight also. I will be cutting the reflector to fit inside the pendant and wiring up the ballast too. Will keep this thread updated.

THanks Robert!! I used 1.25" electrical PVC fittings, 2 male adapters and 2 female. The electrical fittings had more of a lip for the washer to seal against.
