29 gallon biuld Thread

last weekend i ended up adding a small royal gramma and a red firefish. they are both doing great and coloring up nicely. pictures later today.

ive recently had a cyanobacteria outbreak *facepalm* and i think ill try a three day blackout to kill it off. will be doing that next week sometime.

my lfs is having a whole bunch of sps shipments this weekend so i should be getting alot of new coral soon.

More coral!!!!

More coral!!!!

ok so yesterday i got 4 new frags from my lfs, best prices ive ever seen :) $40 each for the sps and $30 for the monti cap and glove polyps combined.

pics are with only actinics then with all lights.

glove polyps, sorry no pics, they weren't opened up.

red monti cap:

green tip sps, can someone give me the exact name?:

blue sps, again please ID for me

that's it, but i do have a few questions, obviously id like someone to properly ID those two sps for me, and right when i put the green tipped sps in it released alot of slime but then had decent polyp extension as did all my new pieces, is the slime bad or just an acclimation thing? last thing, i got some rotifiers from my lfs for free, and i put them in my acclimation tank and added an air stone that's dialed down, how do i keep them alive and how/should i feed my corals with it?thanks for the help in advance.

Is it just me or are the orchid dottybacks going to fight a lot. I would recommend adding them last and together as a mated pair if you are getting two

ive decided not to get orchids, final stocking list:

2Xpercula clowns
1X firefish
1X royal gramma
1x shrimp+goby pair

possibly 1+yrs from now i might add a mandarin dragonette

Well no one responded but I posted in the sps forum and found that the blue on e is a blue stag horn and the green one is an ORA tricolor most likely.

there's a new addition to the tank today, a cleaner shrimp that my mom named Jacques after the shrimp in finding nemo. i acclimated him for half an hour then he scurried away into the rocks so i haven't been able to get a very good picture of him but you probably know what they look like. coral all doing well with the exception of the monti cap, it has started to slightly bleach probably due to going from leds to halides and im hoping it clears up soon. my lfs gave me a bottle of two little fishies acropower which is ammino acids for coral growth and color, i added some today as directed. has anyone had good results using this? ill post a pic of the shrimp as soon ads i can get a good one, maybe feeding tonight?

My six line wrasse is a cream puff..but he has two larger fish in the tank that put him in check immediately when added. Probably why he is so docile.

But yes be mindful in a 29g

Do you understand the dosing requirements for SPS and LPS?

Your current fish list is the max for your tank size.

i understand sps,

water changes: check, 20% biweekly
good flow: check, 2 koralias and wp-25 on the way
good light: check 250 radium 20K and zoo med actinics
good skimming: check, skimmer pulling gunk like crazy
calcium: 420 check with api
alk: 9.2 with salifert
mag: 1350 with salifert
ph: 8.2 with reefkeeper probe calibrated last week

food: feeding rods food coral and reef frenzy simply clam to corals(target)
adding diy 2 part as needed.

i was just wondering if anyone had used acro power before

picked up a new wp-25 today and POWER it has holy cow, i can get a good 2 inch wave in that tank now, i keep it on s3 w3 which is the lowest power wave Mode and its still blowing things around. ....all coral and fish doing well although i havent seen my firefish in 2 days hmm....

im working on a diy algae scrubber so ill post soon about that.
