29G Lights or New Nano?

I need opinions on what to do. I have an eclipse system right now but I am getting rid of the top and building a canopy. To buy MHs and a T5 retro kit it will cost about $300. Should I instead get a complete nano tank setup like a CurrentUSA 24G or JBJ 24G?

Personally i'd rather just continue with what you're doing. I dont really care for all those nano cubes and all those things. idk...i just dont like the look of them too much. And in any case, the lighting that even the dx versions of them come with isnt near what a MH and T5 combo will be ;)

Another suggestion given to me was to get the breeder 40 and upgrade that tank instead of the Eclipse 29...then I can always add on the old 29 for sump in the future....

Breeders are long right? I want to go with something smaller so I can use my existing stand. Eclipse is the worst thing to happen to the saltwater hobby. You buy their system and then realize you want corals and a skimmer so you basically have to start all over with equipment. My tank leaks around the trim if I fill it too high and my CSS is a pain, these are other reasons I am considering a cube.

no breeders are not long. Breeders are only 36 inches. I got one. They're short, not very tall either (like 16 i think?) and wider, thus making them much better for aquascaping than a regular tank.

eclipse's are very very poor quality IMO. I have an eclipse I use for a freshwater hospital tank(fighting cichlids) and nothing else. I really dont see much other use for it. I bought a 14 biocube to start marine. I couldn't be happier. This is 100% better IMO. If you want something compact with all the benifits of being able to do a wet/dry, fuge, sump..whatever go with a cube. Eclipse's are junk, you will never be happy with it no matter what you upgrade on it.

I second GSMguy's post. I have a 29, and I am not a big fan of it. It is impossible to aquascape without the rocks touching the back glass. IMO, go with the 40 br. you'll not regret it. Use the 29 as a sump. I will be doing this in the future (about 1-2 years).

i saw a 30 breader today and i wish i had the space for it because i love the tank the dims are 36x18x12 a 40b is 36x18x16 if you want somthing to fit on the 29 stand u can get a glass 29 gal or a aga 37 gal wich is the same footprint just taller

for about 329 at F&S you can get a 24g aquapod with a 150watt MH.. I have a 29 gal and could get mh for it, but it winds up costing about the same.. plus it doesn't have that nifty back for fuge/sump...
