29g vs 40breeder aqueon?

If it was me I would just slowly buy pieces for a decent tank you would be happy with long term. It does not matter if it takes a year to get it all but a 40b just isn't tall enough for me. For the same dimensions I would do a deep blue 57g rimless and drill it yourself. A 20 gallon for a sump. Basically what I am doing in my build thread.

Also that tank dimension rarely needs a brace. I don't think I ever saw one with.

To me u would need to decide if u would rather the aquaclear or a skimmer. To me it would be way to much stuff hanging on the tank to have both, especially if u don't use a canopy. It may not both u though. U can get creative to hide them for the most part if u decide to use a canopy. The skimmer would be way more useful then a hang on filter. The only good thing about the aquaclear is it gives u a place to run carbon or gfo if u choose. That is about all it's good for though

Don't shoot me! Lol So I may just get this 29 for $40 tomorrow, resell the tank and buy a new 29 at the next petco sale. What's a good light for 29 for polyps? Prob do a simple nemo/shrimp tank for kiddos.

I used to have a 29 gallon. I would highly recommend you keep the 40b. You can build a stand for very cheap. Look up YouTube videos. Quikrete pool filter sand is perfectly fine for the tank, plus its $5 for 50lbs. I wouldn't get an aquaclear filter or any of the HOB filters. You really don't need them. However a HOB protein skimmer would help a lot. Also get a couple of 800gph power heads on eBay. I think they are like $15-$18 for both. Just about any light will work for polyps and zoanthids.

If you are just trying to do fish and zoas, you really just need the tank, light, power heads and skimmer. You can get better stuff later.

Thanks! Fiancée shut me down on the tank switch, just gotta be patient on our back ordered stand ship! Honestly the new aquatic fundamentals stand is more sturdy and more "up to date" than the AGA slatted stand lol

If you the pool filter sand, you need to get quikrete. Other brand might give you problems. Also you Must rinse it out very well with a water hose and a bucket before putting it in your tank. Very important.

That's from when I was doing FW cichlids, I'd do mixed live and dry sands.
