EXPEDITION - Thank you I appreciate it. Myself and a friend made the overflow boxes.
In answer to your questions though. The water overflows into those blue acrylic boxes on the sides of the tank then from there flows down the plumbing inside of those boxes to the sump. The PVC is setup the way it is for noise reduction. You can do a quick search for "Durso Standpipe" to get more info on why. This config is basically an external durso. In answer to your second question... it's not noisy at all.
Hobster - Thanks. The center hole is dead center in terms of side to side. Regarding it's placement vertically I placed it as high as I could without have to modify the viewable black plastic frame of the tank. I did have to modify the tanks plastic frame on the rear back side of the tank though by cutting out maybe 3/8" worth of the plastic so the bulkhead would seat properly.
The overflow bulkheads (the upper most point of them) are maybe 5" below the top of the tank and probably 1" from the side.
I didn't drill a hole for back siphone. We just run the returns relatively close to the surface and that solves the problem.
The sump is super basic. Works great though. The big chamber on the right is for the skimmer and where the water enters the sump. The small chamber is obviously where the return pump is.
