3 Watt LED from China

Has anyone purchased and used the high output 3 Watt LED's from China? I spoke to a place on Ebay and they can sell me 30 white and 30 royal blue shipped to my door for $100. I don't want to order them if they're garbage but if they'd be ok I'd like to give them a try. They're mounted on stars. Thanks for any input anyone can provide.

Damn that's one heck of a price. Did it mention the brand by chance? I too will be watching this thread as I paid >$5 p/LED for mine. Or.....why don't you do your fellow reefers and Reef Central a "service", buy a few of each, build the array and post feedback in the equipment review or DIY forums. (grin)

I'm definitely considering it. I think I get a better deal if I order all 60 at once but I've never built any LED lights before so this will be a learning curve. It would be 30 of these 3W White 130LM High Power LED Lamp Light 3Watt

what i have heard about these from Evil(LED Gawd) that these burn out easily/don't last as long as the Cree's. High failure rate.

Who has tested them already and know they fail early?
So we can see the results, how long they took before they failed.

I would not buy the blues unless they gave me the peak spectrum (preferably around 450nm) and I wouldn't touch the white ones unless they gave me a color temp (preferably 6500K).

I don't have a link because I just emailed the company. They are selling them in bunches of 5 or 10 on ebay so I emailed and asked how much for 30 & 30 and they said $100 inc shipping. I'll see if I can look up the link of the small quanitity sale. I'm still hesitant on these because I figured if they were that great someone would be using them already.
How about a link to these LEDs?

That is really cheap considering the price on the cree LEDs. Cheapest cree I ever saw $3.6 a pop.

Maybe you could get 15 and 15 for half price or similar to try them out first. If they don't work out you could always buy some cree ones since you'll already have all the wiring, heat sinks and drivers.

I looked into buying them for my 180 but I never did but I think the reason was I found something wrong I am pretty sure. Not positive.

I DIYed a lightset using LEDs bought off ebay at an average of about $1.5 - $2 per LED. Have been running the light on my SPS and LPS tank for a year now, no problems so far.

Just sharing my experience.

I have a fixture that uses 96 3w LED from China and my corals have been growing very quickly. They were called Bridgelux. I'm thinking about ordering some more to do a build for my friend.

thats awesome to hear.....if it just lasts a year, i think it would already be worth it....it seems to me that the crees are a bit powerful par wise?? i see some crazy par #s especially with the lenses, so maybe these cheaper leds will be ok par wise....
